| An observation from today's roamings | 10 Mar 2008 05:48 GMT | 25 |
Something I noted today and am wondering if a trend is developing. I reached the refuel point on my car (essentially when the needle reaches 3/4 of a tank) and pulled into a gas station along the way. Had to go in to get the receipt and there were signs on the door

I've vowed to fight terrorism... ROAD TERRORISM. It's not even that I go looking for trouble, trouble looks for me, and sometimes for those near me. Anyway, the first "accident" (see book "It's No Accident") happened to

http://www.vvdailypress.com/news/sanbag_5277___article.html/city_funding.html If you look at the comments, many people are complaining that SanBAG is up to its usual tricks, and that the Victor Valley is the Inland Empire's red-headed stepchild (which is true). One person makes the

| Why 86S? | 07 Mar 2008 14:03 GMT | 1 |
Why was the expressway through Coachella called 86S, instead of the more conventional approach of giving it the number 86 and demoting the surface road that it bypasses to something like 86A? Is there any other S route in California?

On my way home from the Metro station, I saw three cyclists. One appeared to be a "serious" cyclist with the jersey and everything; he was properly lit but I saw him blow a stop sign (I'll give him a pass on that one as he was turning right, although it was still technically

| What are these things? | 07 Mar 2008 00:02 GMT | 1 |
I see this black coverings on wheel covers--they're flat, fit on the wheelcovers, look like they're plastic, are otherwise non-descript, and that's about it. They're always on the front wheels, never the back. What are they for? Any ideas?

I've discovered the one downside to having the camper shell on the Ugly Truck... this was a Craigslist find (me being chea^H^H^H^Hfrugal as a habit) so I didn't have much choice in options, it was more like "does it fit my truck? OK, good. sold." Anyway, it's near impossible ...

| anyone remember "World Cars" | 06 Mar 2008 16:22 GMT | 2 |
Was unpacking some long-packed bookshelf material, and I found four volumes of an annual called "World Cars" by the Automobile Club of Italy. If I remember correctly this was a very expensive book, but after a while they'd go on deep discount at Classic Motorbooks (are they
