The fuel pump in my 94 Explorer quit yesterday, leaving my wife and
daughter stuck on a busy street.  I've checked the fuse, and it's ok,
and swapped the relay with another, and the fuel pump is still not
working.  Anyone have any other suggestions before I take it in to

On my 1996 Explorer, the 4wd and 4wd low indicators have started
flashing.  When I flip the switch to 4WD, the indicator does not come

I really want an 4x4, 4.0L XLT, but only because of the cloth
seats---i don't like leather--too hot in summer, too cold in
winter---but i want some of the options both EB and LTD have--Tire
pressure monitor, 6 way passenger seat adjustments, running boards

Can anyone provide the mileage interval for transmission fluid change?
The vehicle has about 35,000 (largely city) miles on it. The manual
mentions Merkon (or Merkon V) but the Ford dealer (with one of those
near-100% extraction systems) "thinks" the vehicle may need synthetic

My radiator fan is beginning to get some cracks around the hub, where
the blades meet the center. I've been looking at replacements, and seem
to come across 2 different options. One is a 10-blade that sells for
only about $15, while the other is a 12-blade that sells for about $40.

I pull the hood release and, nothing I figure somthing is loose, but where?

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer EB.  I have just tackled the big air mix door problem that has been troubling my air/heater functions.  I think I fixed the problem with the broken plastic piece, but now it doesn't look like my air mix door actuator works.  I know it was working ...

As compared to my 99 sport that I had before.
No lock button in the back cargo area. Now I have to keep my keys in
one hand until I open the back. Then hit the remote lock button before
I unload my stuff. Not a huge deal but the button was much more

Tackling the front brakes on my 91 XLT 4x4 -
The passenger side (done first needed new rotor and caliper (torn boot))
went together quite nicely. The driver sides auto hub slid on nicely but
felt like it hit a spring with about 1/4 inch to go before it snugged up

MY explorer was stolen recently and when it was recovered the abs light was on the ford dealer said it was the main hydrolic control unit that was faulty.  My insurance company says that it was not caused by the theft because there were no external sighs of damage to the unit.  ...

I'm a long-time lurker and occasional poster with a '91 Eddie Bauer 4x4,
purchased in '92 at 50K miles and now limping along at 180K. I don't know
how I would have survived it without this newsgroup, Singleton's Explorer
pages, and Dr. Bob, as just about anything that's mentioned as ...

When I drive I occasionally get this whining or whistling noise at about
2200rpm or 60 km/hr. Gas milage has sucked, I got 260km (160 miles) on a
full tank. Only 9000km on the truck. Any thoughts???
