2000 CD Loading Problems18 Feb 2004 11:50 GMT1
My CD player is having intermittent problems loading discs.  This is not the
blank display or volume problem.  Upon loading a CD, a series of repeating
clicks can be heard and the disc is ejected.  If I keep trying long enough,
the disc may load.  If I leave the disc in the slot ...
92 Brakes17 Feb 2004 03:20 GMT1
I have a 92 Sport with 115k on it.
After I bleed the brakes I get about 500 miles before I start to lose
pedal.  By 750-1000 my pedal  is low enough that I need to rebleed,
after which I have firm pedal and it starts again.
Traffic accident basics17 Feb 2004 03:16 GMT5
Been driving for 25 years but still not clear on the proper way to
handle an insurance claim for collision damage.
Specifically, it's commonly known, I think, that if the damage is
minor (and I'm not sure what dollar amount should be put here), it's

Cold temperature problem?15 Feb 2004 20:58 GMT3
My (new to me) 2000 XLS temperature gauge just barely comes off the peg to the
"C" mark, even after several hours of driving at highway speeds. The previous
owner said this was how it had always been. Additionally, the heat output seems
a little low as well. Is this a cooling system ...
1993 4WD question15 Feb 2004 04:23 GMT1
A 1993 Explorer (with electronic shift) I will be acquiring shortly is
having problems with getting into 4WD.  It's been diagnosed by a
mechanic, who indicated that it's the control module that's the problem.
Are these parts available anywhere besides a Ford dealer?  I'd rather

Can't release hood14 Feb 2004 01:00 GMT2
The inside hood release on my '93 Explorer XLT doesn't release the hood. It
appears the cable is being pulled but nothing happens. Anyone had to deal
with this before? How does one release the hood to get at the mechanism.
TIA
Cold Weather Transmission Weirdness13 Feb 2004 21:21 GMT2
We are experiencing some very cold sub zero weather around here and I notice
that my 2000 Explorer Sport has developed some strange shifting habits which
may or may not be related to the cold.  The 5 speed auto seems to miss the 2
to 3 upshift (feels like a missed shift or a brief ...

It's Official: SUV Owners Are Stupid12 Feb 2004 07:31 GMT80
"Market research shows that S.U.V.s tend to be bought by people who are
"insecure, vain, self-centered, and self-absorbed, who are frequently
nervous about their marriages, and who lack confidence in their driving
skills."
94 Explorer steering is acting REALLY weird...12 Feb 2004 06:05 GMT4
FIRST:  I am not driving this truck until I get it fixed.  'Nuff said
about that.
The truck is a 1994 Explorer 4X4 with manual transfer case and hubs.
The hubs are unlocked because the front U-joints are shot.  So I leave
98 Ford Explorer XLT - Transmission and brake system are linked??12 Feb 2004 00:35 GMT2

About a year ago I started having problems with my brakes feeling spongy at time and kept changing pads although my mechanic said I ...
Keyless entry does not always work11 Feb 2004 19:24 GMT1
I don't have an Explorer, so please consider my question anyway.
I recently purchased a Ford 2002 Econoline Wagon.  The dealership
added a keyless remote.  On two different occasions I have gone out to
my vehicle to unlock the doors with the remote and nothing happens.
