Remote starters31 Mar 2004 06:27 GMT1
Now that winter is over and we could have really used a remote starter, I've
decided to have one installed.  In my local area New York, Long Island - the
going price at high end auto installers is 200.00 ( + 50.00 for the special
ford relay and another key)for  just a remote starter ...
'03 paint and rear-ends30 Mar 2004 16:37 GMT3
I'm closing in on a choice for a newer Explorer to replace my '94 EB w/197k
miles. I'm looking at a '03 XLT (130a) with only 7k miles on it. It's black
and I have a question about the paint. I seem to remember reading here that
the black paint jobs are more problematic than other ...
Pinion Seal Leaking30 Mar 2004 13:11 GMT1
Here is my situation.  2000 Exp Sport 4.0 OHV 5 speed.  60,000 miles and
the pinion seal let go yesterday or today.  I don't have an issue with the
seal letting go, but this is the 2nd Ford in that last 5 years to do this.
I had a 98' Cobra that killed two pinion seals, one at ...

I tried the blend door fix described at
http://home.earthlink.net/~kandc1/ford/blenddoorfix.html
on my '96 Eddie Bauer this weekend.  It worked!!!  I'm sooo happy to
have saved the $900 the dealer estimated it would cost to replace the
Reset Check Engine light29 Mar 2004 02:15 GMT15
Is there a way to reset the check engine light (turn it off) without a
code reader?
Thanks
1996 Explorer Fuel Pump27 Mar 2004 03:04 GMT4
Does anyone know where the fuel pump is on a 1996 Explorer?
I am assuming that this is why my truck refused to start this morning.
The only thing different I noticed when I tried to start my truck this
morning is absence of the hum I hear when I engage the ignition switch.  I
TRANSMISSION  O/D  LIGHT FLASHES27 Mar 2004 02:49 GMT1
I have a 99 Explorer 2 wheel drive with 100,000 miles. It has
developed the O/D light flashing. It usually occurs anywhere from 15
to 100 miles of operation.  The fluid level is fine. The transmission
shifts normally.
New SUV Buying Price26 Mar 2004 19:56 GMT2
I heard a radio ad for a local dealer (upstate ny) who was selling 04
Eddie Bauer's for 7K under sticker.  That got me thinking since I'm in
the market for a new SUV (either an Escape or Mazda Tribute) and was
wondering where a dealer's threshold of pain would be for getting 04's
in a hassle...26 Mar 2004 16:21 GMT1

recently bought a 98 explorer from a dealer with 55K miles on, and

of you like for after market wheels on Explorers.

AWD VS. 4WD in 96-99 explorers/mountaineers25 Mar 2004 19:15 GMT7
I'm looking into buying a 96-99 explorer, and I need it to do 2
things:  Tow a heavy 20 foot boat up a compacted sand/mud boat ramp,
and get me around reliably in snow and ice.  I'm tempted by the V8's
from these years, but most of them come with AWD instead of 4WD, and I
95 Explorer  - CD changer question25 Mar 2004 08:51 GMT1
My 95 Explorer XLT had the "regular" AM/FM/casette deck; not "Premium"
or "JBL".  Anyway the on/off button stopped working so I went to a
junkyard and got one from a 97 Explorer which has CD changer controls
- had a "CD" button, other that that it looks the same as my old
1998 Explorer factory alarm25 Mar 2004 05:24 GMT1
I jsut purchased a 1998 Explorer. My neighbor also has a 1998 Explorer. It
seems that his key fob also activates and deactivates my vehicle. Is there
any way to reprogram my vehicles settings so they don't match his?
Lower Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement24 Mar 2004 06:03 GMT7
I'm thinking about replacing the lower intake manifold gaskets this weekend
on my '98 Explorer 4.0 SOHC.  Looking through the Hayes manual I have they
say to remove the drivebelt, upper intake manifold, valve covers, remove the
cooling fan and shroud before removing the lower ...
