2002 XLT - shudder when turning from a standing start20 May 2004 17:58 GMT9
2002 XLT
42,000 primarily highway miles
Recently developed a "shudder" that seems to come from the rear when turning
from a standing start. (Think turning left after stopping at a stop sign).
Location of 4x4 shift module?19 May 2004 03:11 GMT2
Where is the 4x4 shift control module?  As I understand it, it's in a
wheel well somewhere, but I'm not sure where to look or how to identify
it, when I do find it.
Reason I ask is I was all but given a 1993 Explorer w/ non-functional
Alcohol..19 May 2004 01:24 GMT4
I wonder, can these things be easily switched to run on alcohol? With
gas at and exceeding $2 a gallon now, alcohol has to be fairly comparable in
price, and if it could be converted to do so, can it be done cheaply AND
take advantage of the alternative fuels tax breaks?
Gas Fill-up18 May 2004 12:08 GMT4
When filling my 2000 XLT the auto shutoff handle stops before the tank
is full.  I can ususally (slowly) add anywhere from 2-4 gallons.  I
usually run out of  patience before it gets full.   Is there something
wrong or is this a characteristic of the model?
Lamps in steering wheel.17 May 2004 07:07 GMT6
I have a '99 Sport.  The lights are out on the left side of the wheel
where the Cruise control switches are.
Convently there is no indication of which number the lamp might be, and
there is no explanation on how
98 EB Explorer Front End Rattle/Wobble17 May 2004 05:07 GMT3
Lately I have noticed that when I am driving, usually at speeds past 45,
there is a wobbly/rattly noise coming from my front end. It is something
that I can feel from the driver's side floorboard as well. I have no idea
where to even beginning looking for a problem.

I've got to replace the front pads.  What holds to caliper on and what do I

1997 Ford Explorer - Daylight Running Lights14 May 2004 06:48 GMT4
Strange thing is happening my 97 Explorer Limited. The daylight running
lights aren't coming on and I have the blue highbeam headlight indicator
lite on the console.

2002 Explorer XLT V6 Front end Squeak14 May 2004 05:54 GMT1

1999 Explorer Sport - Changing the Front Rotors13 May 2004 11:42 GMT3
Are the front rotors on a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport (4.0L SOHC) a single
piece that includes the hub (and studs)?
I started out thinking this would be a small and quick project after
changing rotors on an F150 many times.  I took off the tire, removed the
2003 Eddie Bauer V8 - rear end whine?13 May 2004 05:08 GMT2
I've read numerous postings about a rear end whine on some of the newer
explorers and mountaineers, and I'm a bit concerned about my 2003 Eddie
Bauer V8 vehicle. I have about 13k miles on it, and I haven't noticed any
whining sounds. Is this sound very, very loud, or is it something ...
98XLT A/C12 May 2004 18:18 GMT1
Hopefully someone else has had this problem and can relate the cause (just
so I kind of know what to expect when I go to the repairman).  My A/C
provides plenty of cold air on Max A/C but blows hot on normal.
TIA, RJ
