| 1997 Explorer - 4WD engages during turns on dry surfaces | 31 Aug 2004 18:00 GMT | 2 |
I have a '97, 5-speed with the "auto/4HI/4LO switch. The 4WD engages itself during turns on dry surfaces (roads, parking lots, anywhere). At the minimum it causes the truck to jerk back and forth as you turn. In one instance, it snapped the drive shaft within the transmission ...

| Dashlights Non-Functioning | 31 Aug 2004 02:24 GMT | 3 |
In regard to my 1995 Ford Explorer, my steering wheel lights, door lights and instrument panel lights are not functioning. All of the fuses appear to be fine. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? If so any advice on how to correct it?

| IAC Problem or Not | 30 Aug 2004 18:29 GMT | 2 |
'94 Ford Explorer 4.0 Engine 180k miles. I recent noticed in another post regarding IAC tht if it was bad or going bad, the vehicle would idle very roughly if the connector was disconnected and/or the vehicle would not start.

| Disconnecting Explorer speedo cable | 30 Aug 2004 07:39 GMT | 4 |
I own a four-wheel-drive '99 Explorer XLT with the 4.0L SOHC engine and automatic transmission. The vehicle has 48,000 miles on it. I'm considering selling the vehicle in a couple of months and want to be sure that the odometer doesn't reach 50,000 miles for resale purposes.

| Looks good, crazy, but good | 30 Aug 2004 07:01 GMT | 4 |
This year I really got out of hand with the underside painting of my 92 XLT. Came out so good, I decided to take some shots. Surprised even me. Guess they're going to send a rubber truck to take me away. If you'd like to see, it's second photo down:

| Door arm rest 94 XL | 30 Aug 2004 04:44 GMT | 2 |
The arm rest on the driver's door of my 1994 Explorer XL is a mess. The plastic under the padding is broken (cracked into little pieces) from age. This is the part you pull to close the door. The Ford dealer wants to sell me a whole new door panel, but even that wouldn't work ...

| '97 5.0L AWD Limited slip rear differential | 29 Aug 2004 23:42 GMT | 9 |
I had (have) a leak in my rear differential. I've replaced the pinion seal, and it was fine for a week or two, and then I noticed it leaking again. I was convinced by a friend that the groove on the flange wasn't supposed to be there, and that was why it was leaking. I've got

| oil pressure gauge | 29 Aug 2004 16:54 GMT | 6 |
I know that in my '91 EB the oil gauge is actually an idiot light. Did Ford ever go to a "real" gauge in the Explorer and, if so, in what year did this occur?

| Oil for older cars? | 29 Aug 2004 16:42 GMT | 5 |
I've used 5w-30 synthetic since I bought my Explorer new in 1994. Now when I go to Walmart to pick up another 5-gallon jug, I notice the heavier weights are advertised as good for high-mileage vehicles. Since my truck has 160,000 miles on it, should I switch to the ...

| Noise from Cam Sensor? | 27 Aug 2004 21:40 GMT | 5 |
Last week I started hearing a squealing noise under the hood, sounding just like a loose belt. I brought it to a local mechanic and he replaced the belt and it still made the noise. Because the noise was intermittent he had trouble locating it but he said it sounded like

| time for new shocks? | 27 Aug 2004 19:21 GMT | 2 |
99 XLT 4WD SOHC, Michelin LTX M/S tires. Recently started getting a vibration at freeway speeds (60-65 +). I had the tires rotated and the balance checked but that didn't help. The tires have ~5000 miles and the problem started well after I got them so I don't think

| Key change | 27 Aug 2004 17:31 GMT | 4 |
We had a set of keys turning up missing while a crew was doing some improvements. These are for a 2004 Explorer. Does anyone know the cost of getting new keys and locks and also can the remotes be re-programmed? Thanks.
