Howdy,
I have a 1995 Explorer XLT v6.
Yesterday the temperature dropped into the low 60's (it's been above 85
until yesterday) and after work, when I started my Explorer, I heard a loud
Reverse light wire - 2004 Ford Explorer20 Nov 2004 15:41 GMT1
I've just purchased some inexpensive auxiliary back-up lights to mount
on the hitchbar of my 2004 Ford Explorer XLT.
I need to find a convenient spot to splice a relay connection into the
reverse light wire.  Does anyone know:
Rear brakes don't work20 Nov 2004 01:34 GMT2
Replaced rear brake shoes at 90K miles.  Parking brake works fine, but
discovered after one month that there is no hydraulic braking in rear
brakes.  There are no hydraulic leaks, and master cylinder resevoir is full.
Tried to bleed rear hydraulic lines manually, but no fluid would ...

Off topic CVT tranny question for Jim Warman or others...19 Nov 2004 14:49 GMT6
This question is slightly off topic as it pertains to the new CVT
(Continuously Variable Transmission) used on the new Ford Freestyle Crossover
SUV, but I think the discussion will be interesting to all. The idea has been
around for a while, but this is one of the first actual ...

Howdy,
I took my 1995 Explorer into the Ford dealer last week to have the front /
rear brake pads replaced / rotors turned.
They also replaced the idler pulley (see previous post, it was making a
91 Explorer, broken seat back pull lever, anyone else?18 Nov 2004 23:00 GMT8
I gave it a yank the other day to move the seat back more straight and crack!
It broke.
I looked at the broken part under a magnifying glass and one side of the
crack was rusted, meaning a defective part from Ford. Grrrr.
97 5.018 Nov 2004 17:08 GMT1
Does anyone else have a problem with the drivers side header. I changed the
gasket but it stll sounds like a steam train with the exhaust leak.
97 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 cracked header18 Nov 2004 17:02 GMT1
I have a 97 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 that has a cracked exhaust header.
Does anyone out there know of anyone who makes an aftermarket header
for this.  I looked into the Ford Motorsports headers, but they are no
longer being offered and the dealership I went to couldn't find any.
4.0 SOHC Tranny oil change 50KKm or 250Kkm?18 Nov 2004 02:23 GMT8
Ford's "Scheduled Maintenance Service Guide" indicates that for 1996
to 2004 the explorer 4.0 only needs "transmission service" every
250Kkm! That's about 155,000 miles! It goes on to list a nunmer if
transmissions and vehicles which do require fluid change at 50Kkm.

98 Explorer Timing Chain/Tensioner/Cassette/4.0L17 Nov 2004 13:12 GMT2
I had my front timing chain and guides replaced at 80,000 miles in
July and now the check engine light has come on. When we brought it
back to the dealer they said it was the rear cassette now and it won't
be covered by the warranty and that it wasn't worth fixing the truck
'99explorer vibration17 Nov 2004 01:16 GMT1
I just noticed my '99explorer problem with vibration, which goes away
when I fill up a full fuel tank or having 4 passengers in the car.
What is wrong with the car?  I can not maintain a full tank all the
time, or keep 4 passengers in the car either. Thank in advance for any
