Can I purchase a filter longer and with more filter media that
Motorcraft's 820S oil filter. My 4.6, V8, uses the 820S but I have room
for a much larger filter, larger than the FL1A as used by my old V6.
I do not need an oil cooler or remote add on filter just looking for a

I put it into reverse, there was a load 'click' then nothing.
All other gear selections appear to be OK I just can't go backwards.

HELP! I've got a distinct chirping under the hood of my '98 explorer. It
has approx. 116K miles on it, but i have taken good care of the vehicle. I
have replaced both idler pulleys and the alternator, which have helped, but
still have the chirping sound. Water pump??

This is on a 2002 Ford Explorer XLS 4x4 4-Door, with a 4.0 Litre SOHC
engine.
Just today, I heard a noise, and now it does it every time I backup, turning
my wheel almost to the extreme left (counter-clockwise). I hear a

I have a 2002 XLT 4WD, V6 and there's a noticeble shudder as the tranmission
shifts into final gear (5th).

I am getting an ODBII Error - "P0743 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit
Electrical" on my 1998 Ford Explorer XLT AWD.  The "O/D Off" light
flashes in the dash as well as the Check Engine light. I have a code
reader and it gives the message above.  I have tried to read up on

Since I don't have the time, any idea how much it's goning to cost to have a
new transfer case installed? It's a 96 4L with 97000 on it.

I did that prior to my post. I got the same answer from Cottman and a Ford
Truck dealer...make an appointment and bring it in. My local mechanic could
not give me a ballpark figure. He doesn't do transmissions. But thanks Bill.

While driving around 55 mph I had to come off of the accelerator.  When I
did so the RPM came down and I could feel the engine slow down and the car
of course slowed down to.  However, for a couple of moments, I heard a
"whinning" noise.  So I applied the gas and the noise went away ...
