98 Exploer Sport26 Dec 2004 00:33 GMT5
Just noticing after a road trip, I now have a whine coming from the rear.  It almost sounds like the rear end gear is now meshed harder, the pitch of the noise goes up with speed.  Possible problems??

First off I'm not a car guy but I can do anything with the right
instructions so bear with me. Ok this is a long story but I'll try and
cut it down. Back in this past May I bought a '92 4.0L Explorer with
roughly 108k miles on it. I needed something cheap that would be able
94 A4LD Vacuum Modulator Replacement24 Dec 2004 16:23 GMT2
I have determined that the vacuum modulator is defective (tranny fluid in
the vacuum hoses) and have a replacement ($37.50) to install.
I removed the passenger seat and console and peeled the carpet up to expose
an access cover on top of the tranny hump.

A while back I heard something "click" while I was opening
the door. Now the handle is no longer "springy". The door
closes ok, but I have to slam it more than the other doors
to close it. Is this easily fixed?

98 4.0 EFI Rough Idle23 Dec 2004 05:07 GMT5
I have a 98 ford explorer 4.0 EFI  Its not a SOHC.  My check engine
light came on the other day, the next morning I noticed a rough idle.
it seemed to clear up after the engine warmed up. I disconnected the
battery cables to do a reset. It ran a few days ok. then the light came
auto trans won't downshift to 1st gear on 2000 Explorer V6 SOHC23 Dec 2004 01:02 GMT3
Any ideas on why my auto trans won't downshift to 1st gear when manually
placed into 1st gear.  It will limit itself to first gear only when
accelerating in 1st gear but it won't allow engine breaking to decelerate
on decents. It seams like it is in neutral when no gas is applied, ...
Jim Warman, your phone is ringing22 Dec 2004 03:38 GMT3
Jim,
Did you ever get a chance to think of why that stupid cruise control
isn't working?
Clutch Problems21 Dec 2004 17:15 GMT1
My problem is an intermitting problem with my clutch. Occasionally I will
have a problem getting it into 1st gear and difficult 2nd. Other times
everything works fine.
When this happens I must depress my pedal about a 1/4 of the way  before I
Reverse Sensor Problem Question21 Dec 2004 07:34 GMT1
My '05 Limited has the optional reverse sensors in the back bumper.
There is a switch on the left side of the steering column that turns
these off (and lights up when off).  Normally, the sensors are on when
the vehicle is started.

Any ideas on why my auto trans won't downshift to 1st gear when manually
placed into 1st gear.  It will accelerate in when placed in 1st gear but
it won't allow engine breaking to deccelerate on decents.  It seams like
it is in neutral when decellerating.  Problem only occurs after ...
'99 Explorer Fuel pressure problem20 Dec 2004 17:50 GMT5
I've been doing some troubleshooting on my Explorer recently.  It suffers
from the hard to start problem as many others do.  Sure enough, I found that
the fuel rail pressure bleeds to zero almost instantaneously after it's shut
off.  The other interesting thing is that the fuel ...
