| Changing Seats in 99 Exp | 20 Dec 2004 12:34 GMT | 1 |
Hi I have a 1999 Explorer XLS, I have cloth seats and they are not power. Recently I have been having lower back pain, I have tried lumbar support and massage pads but no use. I was wondering if I can replace the driver side seat with lets say a Lincoln Navigator Power seat or

| Engine Change | 20 Dec 2004 00:13 GMT | 2 |
How complicated, and should it even be done, to change the v6 in a 99 EddieBauer Explorer to a 302 or other V8 engine. Can the existing transmission be reused? Engine Mounts? Wiring? I'm just not happy with the performance of the V6.

| No brake lights! | 20 Dec 2004 00:05 GMT | 18 |
I just noticed yesterday I have no brake lights- zilch- zip- none at all. I usually check every so often to be sure they are working, so I don't think they were out long. I would likely had a roadside counsel with the long arm of the law too. Here's what I tried today-

I am considering something really crazy and that is to road trip to Alaska from Georgia in my '97 xlt. Is this a death wish for my vehicle? It is in good conidition with about 230k miles on it. Maybe Ford would sponser this madness, probably not though.

| 99 Brake job caliper bleeding question | 18 Dec 2004 06:13 GMT | 8 |
I will probably do my brakes this weekend. I just have a question on pushing the caliper pistons back in with a C-clamp. There seems to be an issue as to whether I should open up the bleeder valve or not when I compress the piston. I did a search on this and everyone seems to have

| help! punctured gas tank | 17 Dec 2004 23:28 GMT | 10 |
I hit a rock with my 2003 Explorer today and now my gas tank is leaking. ARGGGH, I wasn't paying close attention because it was a grassy road I've driven many times but a new rock showed up hidden in the tall grass. I'm not sure what the hole looks like ie: crack/hole etc ...

| What's with the harsh ride on my '02? | 17 Dec 2004 17:54 GMT | 7 |
I run the OEM Michelin Cross terrains on my '02 and man does it ride rough. Bone jarring some times, have to check my filling after a while. (I really miss the air ride of my Expedition) I run the 32/35 recommended psi's. Anyone remedy this with shocks and/or tire change?

| Stereo trim removal issue | 16 Dec 2004 04:36 GMT | 2 |
Last night I removed the trim from around the stereo in my '02. Not thinking ahead, I simply used a screwdriver and created several indentations in the vinyl dash where I was prying. Does any know of a way to remove or smooth over these indentations? I

| RECALL on 2002 Explorer.... | 16 Dec 2004 03:06 GMT | 4 |
Finally got Ford to do the recall on the rear window hardware (gas struts and hinges). Be advised there is ANOTHER recall coming down the line (if you have not gotten it already).

| Cold start trouble | 15 Dec 2004 23:46 GMT | 1 |
When I start my 98 explorer xlt 4.0 SOHC in the mornings the engine immediately races to 2500-3000 RPM and drops to less than 1,000 RPM, then back up, then down and sometimes dies, at low RPMs it runs real rough. All of this happens until the engine gets good and warm.

| "Check AdvanceTrac" light comes on | 15 Dec 2004 16:44 GMT | 6 |
Jim: Thanks for the reply. Here is what I know so far: 1) My code reader will not read any codes from the 4x4 module. 2) The problem only happens when the car is very cold, overnight on a

I live up in Vermont and have had this problem since last year that is bugging me and I want to solve it. When I get up in the morning I cannot open the drivers side door (it feels like its frozen shut). I then have to go in the drivers side rear door and lean over the seat

Does anyone know if that model came with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs stock? I am trying to change mine out and put Silverstars in there and it looks like they have the same model number on the bulb in there.
