| power steering that works sometimes? | 06 Feb 2005 02:34 GMT | 1 |
I've got a '97 XLT V6 w/ 87k. I noticed a problem this fall; after letting the truck sit for a couple of months the power steering got intermittent - it gets easy and hard as you turn the wheel. After driving it a mile or so, the steering felt better, but still acted up a

| 120K transmission issues | 05 Feb 2005 22:30 GMT | 1 |
97 Sport, final shift into OD seems to be taking longer than usual. Has had fluid/filter change done around 90k at dealer. Recommendations for service to correct this? Not looking for tranny replacement/big bucks repair, but would like to keep it in the family for a few more ...

| 93 explore brake question | 05 Feb 2005 20:15 GMT | 3 |
I have a 1993 ford Explore 4x4 and I am wondering how hard it is to replace the brake cylinder. I have a leaky one that needs to be replaced and was planning on doing this on the weekend. Thanks in advance.

| ABS light 2002 Ford Explorer | 04 Feb 2005 05:01 GMT | 2 |
The ABS light started coming on in my 2002 Ford Explorer. I am not having any braking problems. With all of the ice and snow, I knoww that the ABS is working. I thought that it might have been the fluid level, so I topped it off, but no help.

| 1995 Headlights | 03 Feb 2005 17:24 GMT | 4 |
I recently replaced the headlights on my 1995 EB, and am not satisfied with results. I plan on getting the Sylvania Silverstars, but the big problem seems to be the "yellowed" lens assembly. I see the same problem on most older Explorers. Any information on replacement/

| Opinions on 2002 Explorer | 03 Feb 2005 15:49 GMT | 6 |
The time has come to retire my 1996 Explorer. The transfer case just went, and after 160,000 relatively trouble free miles, I'm planning to cut my losses and go for a newer model. I need to stay under $20K, so I'm considering a 2002 or possibly 2003. I know 2002 was a redesign ...

| 2000 Parking Brake Doesn't Work | 03 Feb 2005 03:42 GMT | 5 |
I park on a sloped driveway and my 2000 Explorer parking brake can't hold the vehicle in place. I've been to the dealer twice to have the brake adjusted and the result is that the brake feels much firmer and it holds well. After a mon th or two it loosens up to the point where

| Turning off the auto door lock function (How, please?) | 02 Feb 2005 21:17 GMT | 2 |
I have tried to solicit an answer to this in another (a.a.f) newsgroup, but I simply got replies that, "It isn't a feature on your car". I was asking about my own ('99) Sable and a friend's 2004 Explorer. We both are annoyed with the doors automatically locking when the cars begin ...

| '96 Explorer heater blend door broken? | 02 Feb 2005 17:40 GMT | 9 |
The temperature adjustment seemed to stop working correctly on our '96 Explorer. Seemed to be blowing all cold for my wife, regardless of temp setting (engine was plenty warmed up). I played with it later, heard a dull knock from the heater area behind the

| 1996 Ford Explorer Heater Vent | 02 Feb 2005 17:37 GMT | 7 |
On my 1996 Ford Explorer, the heater blows hot air in vent and air conditioning mode. In Max Air cool air does blow. Heater works but temperature selection does not lower temperature of air blown in.

| Clutch noise | 01 Feb 2005 13:48 GMT | 1 |
Recently I have been having a real hard time changing gears in my 93 xlt 5 speed. As the problem has gotten worse (very difficult to change gears - double clutching helps a little) I have begun to hear a whining noise when the clutch is engaged.

| Repair AutoHubs on '91-'94? | 01 Feb 2005 04:15 GMT | 13 |
Has anyone sucessfully managed to repair the autohubs on the early Explorer (91-94)? Is there a repair kit anywhere? Ford wants something like $900 for new ones. I put Warn manuals on my '91 and the autohubs just failed on my wife's '92. I'm completely happy with the Warn hubs ...

| '95 EB climate control | 01 Feb 2005 02:14 GMT | 4 |
My climate control has gone weird - If it's on 'max AC' I get nice cold air. If it's on 15, 18 or above - I get warm air when the engine is cool, and progressively hotter as it warms up... Anyone know what the problem is? I've taken the glove box out, the plenum
