98 XLT rear axle/bearing float.22 Mar 2005 01:29 GMT2
In trying to diagnose a bad shake/grind/drumming noise from under my high
mileage 4x4 Exploder, I took off the rear wheels and rotors (disks) and
calipers. I noted that if I pulled and pushed the wheel studs I could feel 2
to 3 mm (1/8") or so of play. This is not rocking the ...

How do I change the air filter on my 1995 ford explorer?  I can see 1

My first DIY job, success21 Mar 2005 19:20 GMT5
A very big "thank you" to everyone here for answering all of my newbie
questions for the last few weeks.  Last night, I went out into the
garage and nervously got to working on the Explorer.
I changed the drive belt.  The old one was in really bad shape, cracks
Grinding noise in front end?21 Mar 2005 17:38 GMT5
I've got a strange grinding noise comming from the front-end of my '97
expedition.  Seems to
only happen when turning corners and accelerating.  I've also noticed
that the ride has gotten rougher.
Clunking noise when acceleratiing21 Mar 2005 15:57 GMT4
I have a 98 Explorer XLT, 5.0L AWD, and when I give it gas I feel and hear a
clunk coming from what seems to be down the middle of the car.  Originally
it was only when I hit the gas pedal hard, but now seems to happen whenever
the truck is under any kind of tourque.  I friend ...
Another electrical problem20 Mar 2005 23:33 GMT5
This evening we went to a party for a friend in the 2000 Eddie Bauer
Explorer (68K miles).  It's been starting and running fine, no problems
whatsoever.  When we went to leave about 2 1/2 hours later, the battery was
nearly flat dead.  There was nothing left on to drain the battery. ...
96 XLT20 Mar 2005 17:51 GMT4
I need to know why the battery always seems to die when the car sits for
more than a couple days without being started.  Is it the cold, a short?
I'm clueless right now and would appreciate some feed back.I just put a
new battery in truck 3 wks ago and the truck sounded great ...

I have the new outside door handle for my 97 Explorer to replace the current
one with both tension springs broke.  Question is what should I use to
reattach the new handle?  I can't find any pop rivets as large as the ones
that I will have to remove to install the new handle.  I ...

Car doesn't heat up19 Mar 2005 05:12 GMT2
I have a 98 Ford Explorer XLT, 5.0L AWD.  Sometimes, but not always, the car
just doesn't heat up.  When it doesn't heat up I obviously have no heat.
The temperature gauge doesn't show the car heating up at all.  But sometimes
it does heat up, however when this happens I have too ...
2002 radio removal18 Mar 2005 20:14 GMT3
My radio with the single CD player decided to not eject the last CD I
played. I guess I'll have to remove the radio and try to remove it that
way. Can someone tell me how to get the radio out? I poked around a bit,
but didn't want to break the surrounding plastic.
Got my Mountaineer: nice ride, but how do I pay for gas?18 Mar 2005 16:34 GMT25
I finally went back to the dealership that quoted me an insane price for an
01 2wd Mountaineer, and actually got a much better price. Then I gave it a
good looking over and wow! Turns out the first price they gave me a few
weeks ago was pretty reasonable after all...this thing is ...
