| Towing package or not on '02 XLT? | 23 May 2005 02:05 GMT | 3 |
I got my '02 XLT used, and I'm not sure how to identify if I have the towing package -- specifically if the hitch is not the standard Class II hitch but the towing package's III+ hitch. It's the 4.0 engine, 2 wheel drive, auto transmission. But, that's all I'm

| Where is steering stabilizer on 99? | 22 May 2005 13:45 GMT | 4 |
I am going to change the shocks myself soon on my 99 XLT. Monroe's website, as well as other auto parts websites, list a steering stabilizer, but I can't find it anywhere in the front of my truck. Can someone point me in the right direction?

About 3 months ago, I had a problem with the Explorer starting. At that time, it would crank, but not catch. I replaced the fuel pump relay and the problem went away. Now it cranks, catches, and then immediately dies. Time after time. I

| Anyone have leaks using Fram sure drain? | 21 May 2005 17:13 GMT | 4 |
I recently noticed on my 99 XLT that there is a slight leak coming from the threads( where it goes into the oil pan). I loosened the plug slightly and re-tightened it ( not much as I was afraid to strip the threads) I will check again at the end of the day. But I was just

| Windshield film | 21 May 2005 01:34 GMT | 5 |
On a 2002. I've got some kind of substance (car wash wax maybe?) on the exterior windshield that makes night driving in the rain a significant safety issue. New wipers haven't fixed it. I've tried several auto-type glass cleaners with no success. Recommendations?

| 4wd Dash Buttons Not working...please help a newbie.... | 21 May 2005 00:53 GMT | 8 |
I FINALLY got my brother’s Explorer...a 1994 model for a GREAT price. The thing is bullet proof. It is a 4wd model, but the 4wd hasn’t worked since he has owned it (five months) and he doesn’t have much "mechanical ability" so he just left it alone.

| tire question | 20 May 2005 18:49 GMT | 3 |
I noticed noise coming from my tires recently. Mechanic said the tires are 'cupping', probably due to bad shocks. The tires are Michlen XC LT4. They were put on at 18000 miles (Firestone recall) and the car now has 65500 miles.

| '97 Explorer flood caused oil leak | 19 May 2005 18:35 GMT | 1 |
OK, here is my problem. I'm an idiot and accidentally drove my '97 AWD V8 XLT (which was in great condition) into 2 feet of water and got stuck. No, I didn't know it was 2 feet, and no I should not have driven into it not knowing how deep it was. With that out of the way, here is

| My Spare Fell Off Too--Was There A Recall? | 18 May 2005 21:58 GMT | 1 |
Before I call Ford I just wanted to know if the spare tire cable was ever actually recalled and if I should expect them to replace it for free or not. The only posts I found on the subject were from 2000 and were not conclusive.

| Bad Dealer? Am I Making a Mountain Out Of A Molehill? | 18 May 2005 07:07 GMT | 21 |
I took my 2003 Mercury Mountaineer to my local Ford dealer today for service (the L-M dealer is further away so I figured that a Mountaineer is the same thing as an Explorer). When I got there, I told them I wanted the tires rotated and the oil changed. I pointed out that the ...

| Warrantee Question | 18 May 2005 01:39 GMT | 6 |
Would anyone know if the rear glass hinge is covered under the 36/36 bumper to bumper warrantee? I went to open it yesterday and the hinge broke. I managed to push the window back up and get it shut, but it is only on one hinge.
