BAM!  noise from 2002 XLT 4WD08 Dec 2005 23:09 GMT2
2002 Explorer XLT 4.6L V-8 4WD automatic, factory tow pkg, purchased
Oct/Nov 2001.  This is the one with the Control Track 4WD.
During the first 80K miles, I very occasionally heard a single loud BAM!
come from somewhere up front.  Maybe 5 or 6 times total.  In each case,

Resonator blew . . . Computer reset?08 Dec 2005 17:06 GMT2
Yesterday the Resonator on my '92 blew out (I'll just remove it later
today) but after I heard it let go the motor seemed to falter for a few
moments before everything became normal again. Could this be the
computer resetting from a difference in back pressure?
High pitched whistle08 Dec 2005 05:48 GMT2
My wife's '01 Sport Trac is making a shrill whistling noise. It's coming
from the right side and only when the vehicle is rolling. It's also very
intermittent. We've never heard it at hwy speeds and sporadically in stop
and go traffic. Applying the brakes makes no difference in the ...
Left directional signal won't turn off06 Dec 2005 21:30 GMT2
My left signal light on my 98 Explorer won't turn off when I move the lever
to the center or to the right.  Both the front and the back continue to
flash, even when I turn the ignition off and remove the key.  Could this be
a bad flasher or would you suspect a short?
Coded Keys - Options06 Dec 2005 19:18 GMT7
Hello Group,
Well I just bought this 2002 X with only one coded key. Have heard only
the dealer can make me another key for buck bucks. Is there other options?

Owner's Guide doesn't match vehicle!!!06 Dec 2005 05:06 GMT5
I bought a used '01 Explorer Sport.  It didn't have an Owner's Guide,
so I downloaded one from Ford.  When I did my 1st oil change, the
specified oil filter didn't fit!  I went back to the Ford website and
created a profile of my vehicle (submitted VIN).  I then downloaded
97 explorer problem06 Dec 2005 02:08 GMT7
In the morning when I first start up my truck I have a hard time keeping it
running.  After I take off the problem goes away. I took it to a mechanic
and by the time I got there it didn't have the problem anymore and he
looked at me like I was a dumb broad.  I have this problem more ...

How do auto hubs work?04 Dec 2005 00:36 GMT3
I recently changed over to Warn manual hubs and restored 4WD capability on
my '94 Exploder.  While I can see how the Warns work, I'm wondering how the
automatics did it.  I assume it has to do with the plastic gizmo I threw
away.
97 Explorer Front Brakes03 Dec 2005 20:00 GMT2
I've done many sets of brakes over myl ife, but haven't done them on my
explorer yet. I was wondering if I could get some quick insight on how
much of a pain its gonna be, or if there are any quirks I should know
about before I tackle this job. Any help would be much appreciated,
96 Explorer Automatic Transmission03 Dec 2005 16:13 GMT1
While gassing it to get on the freeway last week my transmission seemed
to slip while shifting from first to second.  Shortly after this the
O/D light started flashing and the Check Engine light came on.  The
vehicle does not want to shift properly now.  (I was able to 'force' it
