Tired of that damn radio display.10 Jan 2006 05:27 GMT6
After fixing it for 5-6 time I gave up on the DIY solution. Now, where can I
get a power board for the display that won't go bad ? Have they redesigned
it to stop it form over heating ?

Power seat stuck10 Jan 2006 03:30 GMT4
My '97 Explorer's driver side power seat is stuck back at nearly end of
the track.  It will advance about an inch, but then the motor bogs
down, and then nothing.  I'm 5'6" and this is not a very comfortable
(or safe) driving position.

I just got a error code message of P1780, which tells me the problem is
the transmission control switch is out of range.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this issus, and explain
what this error code really means?

Explorer Starts... Sometimes09 Jan 2006 02:19 GMT7
I just recently encountered a problem with my 94 Explorer, it sometimes
does not start, no click, no turning over, just a faint grinding sound
like something is trying to happen, but not.  Then sometimes it will
start.  I just recently put in a new starter motor in.  All the
Explorer Sport shifts between 4wd hi & 2wd all by itself!08 Jan 2006 20:03 GMT2
I have a 2001 Explorer Sport (build date is 3/2000).  Three times I had
it in 4wd hi, it switched to 2wd all by itself.  And once it went back
and forth a few times!   I noticed the last two times I could hear the
relays clicking--the exact same noise they make when I manually move
Yellowed headlights/"Diamond-cut" clear lenses08 Jan 2006 05:12 GMT3
My 1995 Explorer headlights really cut down on the pattern, even with Sylvania Silverstars, due to aging/yellowing lenses. Using plastic cleaners/fine steel wool, etc, has not really helped. The ExplorerX forum http://web.explorerx.com/performance/dc.php  recommends "Diamond-cut" ...
Engine & Transmission Fluid07 Jan 2006 07:49 GMT5
OOPS!
I put Auto. Transmission Fluid (1 qt.) by mistake in my engine.
I drained all the oid from the drain pan and then added 4 qt.'s of Motor
Oil BEFORE starting it, though.
IAC idle valve07 Jan 2006 07:38 GMT5
Hi, post from UK Explorer owner/driver. Lovely motor. 1977. Mine has 4 liter
SOHC engine. V8 was not shipped to UK as far as I can tell.
Very poor tickover when cold. Found a couple of IAC valves on eBay from 5
liter v8 engines.
Are Tensioners redesigned from Ford?07 Jan 2006 05:05 GMT1
The Chain tensioner on my 97 SOHC motor protrudes from the head about 2
inches. The factory catalogs make them look like they mount flush to the
motor? Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks!

2002 Explorer 4WD not engaging05 Jan 2006 19:46 GMT2
I left my 2002 Explorer outdoors during a recent hard freeze.  I noticed that
during that cold snap (freezing temperatures) my 4WD would not engage.  I was
hoping that once the temperatures warmed up the problem would go away, but it
has not.  Ever since that day I have not been ...
What's the black cylinder on the OHC V6?05 Jan 2006 03:16 GMT1
Facing the motor, back left coming out of the cylinder head. You can't see
it very well except from under the car. It appears to be leaking oil.
It has a hex pattern at the base for a wrench, but what is it?
Thanks!
