How much weight can the roof of a '97 support? I'd like to build a cradle to haul two aircraft wings (total weight around 150#). Alternatively, anyone seen a scheme for transfering that weight to the bumpers? - Mike

And no, this is not a troll... My son set this up for me this way, and said that it would protect my identity... I have a 95 Explorer Sport, V-6, 4WD. (Well, only when I turn the little switch on the dash, but I've never driven it that way).

I see that my '03 Mountaineer needs some brake fluid topping off. I have a can of Prestone DOT 3 fluid on my shelf...is that the right stuff?? I THINK I bought it originally for this vehicle, but I honestly can't remember.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! My '98 explorer XLT has 130K miles, and I have only have one problem with it....a "chirp" that has lasted about two months. Any advice? Also, what type of tune up should be performed on this vehicle? Thanks much for the advice!

My 91 Ford Explorer fuel indicator reads empty all the time. The guy in the parts store said it probably has a hole in it and it got filled up with gas so it sits low in the tank. Anyone ever change that float?

I bought a 99 SOHC with 92,000 miles on it. The 30 day warranty is about to expire, so I took it into a mechanic. He says the timing chain is noisy, and should possibly be replaced. He does not have the equipment for it, so he can't tell me much about it.

The 3.73LS differential in my 2-wheel drive Explorer started whining at about 60 MPH before the original warranty expired, so I took it in for repair. The differential was rebuilt (ring and pinion, etc.) and the noise was gone. Unfortunately, the whine noise returned within 1000
