Tire wear24 Feb 2006 23:12 GMT12
What kind of tire wear are you getting with your Explorer?  I just
replaced the OEM P235/70-16 Michelin Cross Terrains on my 2002 Explorer
and I got 42k miles out of them.  They were just approaching the wear
indicators.  Amazingly, the tires never had to be re-balanced for the

How much weight can the roof rack support and suggestions....?24 Feb 2006 21:14 GMT5
How much weight can the roof of a '97 support? I'd like to build a
cradle to haul two aircraft wings (total weight around 150#).
Alternatively, anyone seen a scheme for transfering that weight to the
bumpers? - Mike
Have a curious little sound from the front suspension...24 Feb 2006 12:28 GMT1
And no, this is not a troll... My son set this up for me this way,
and said that it would protect my identity...
I have a 95 Explorer Sport, V-6, 4WD. (Well, only when I turn the
little switch on the dash, but I've never driven it that way).
DOT 3 Brake Fluid24 Feb 2006 04:29 GMT2
I see that my '03 Mountaineer needs some brake fluid topping off. I have a
can of Prestone DOT 3 fluid on my shelf...is that the right stuff?? I THINK
I bought it originally for this vehicle, but I honestly can't remember.
Any input by Ford techs appreciated regarding 99 Eddie Bauer24 Feb 2006 02:50 GMT5
Is it possible to start a 99 Eddie Bauer without key?
Basically getting around the transponder system. One of my clients (I'm an

Carrier denied the claim saying that even though there was damage around

I have a 99 Explorer that has an awful squeek coming from the belt. Its a 4.0

replaced it. Then it was still doing it so I put another belt on it to hope
solve the problem. Didnt work. The last thing I did was put ...

91 Explorer Fuel Indicator21 Feb 2006 02:53 GMT2
My 91 Ford Explorer fuel indicator reads empty all the time.
The guy in the parts store said it probably has a hole in it and it got
filled up with gas so it sits low in the tank.
Anyone ever change that float?
94 explorer hub o-ring ?19 Feb 2006 07:51 GMT2
I was wondering if there was a place to buy a rubber O-ring for the front
wheel hub of a 94 explorer. I checked with the Ford dealer and he wanted
$35 for a single O-ring. Just wondering if there is somewhere cheaper than
the dealer. I checked Autozone, O'reillys, etc... with no ...
Timing chain noise18 Feb 2006 18:37 GMT10
I bought a 99 SOHC with 92,000 miles on it.  The 30 day warranty is about to
expire, so I took it into a mechanic.  He says the timing chain is noisy,
and should possibly be replaced.  He does not have the equipment for it, so
he can't tell me much about it.

The 3.73LS differential in my 2-wheel drive Explorer started whining at
about 60 MPH before the original warranty expired, so I took it in for
repair.  The differential was rebuilt (ring and pinion, etc.) and the
