A friend has an Explorer that has a very loud squeek in the front end. I don't know the year, but believe it's a '99 or so. It's a suspension squeek and is reproduceable by bouncing the front up and down. Is there a component that is predisposed to squeeking on these vehicles?

Can anyone give me the general location of the idle control sensor on the 4.0? I've searched around and can't find any info, and don't have a chiltons. Any help would be appreciated. Buck

99 Explorer, 4.0 SOHC, auto trans. Engine starts and runs fine, but after it warms up the idle speed jumps around from 900 rpm to as high as 1500 rpm whether in gear or not. Can anyone help with what the problem might be and how to fix it.

On idle my air con solenoid on the pump engages and dissengages wether switched on or off. On the move i cannot hear it so it may be doing the same. When ON the AC works- Tho' still clicks in and out at idle- Is this normal.

Forgive me for not having the exact code, I'll get that next time I go past auto zone. Last time though it was a slow response from the upstream 02 sensor. I replaced it. Light is still on, code was the same.

I was looking to change the fluid in my transfer case soon on my 99 XLT SOHC. The owners manual says use Mercon ATF. The local auto store here only sells Citgo Transguard ATF Dexron III/ Mercon. I am assuming they are the same?
