98 Explorer sohc 4.0 timing fix12 Jun 2006 22:29 GMT12
Hello. I have been searching the web for weeks looking for information
on the timing chain and intake manifold fixes on these 4.0's.
I have had the truck since it had 98,000 miles on it, it now has
150,000. It had a light rattle at startup and has always had a small

The rear view mirror on my 92 XLT just fell off (79,000 miles on the truck
and it's still like new - except for the mirror). I've checked all the old
posts and the former Singleton site and don't see anything on this
particular issue:

02 Brake light switch revised?09 Jun 2006 12:56 GMT2
Can someone verify that the correct Ford replacement brake light switch
is 4L2Z-13480-AB?  2002 4x4 4.0 BTW.  The reason I ask is the new one
looks completely different than the original, having a lot of metal
construction and a different electrical connector.  There is a pigtail
93 Explorer running sluggest09 Jun 2006 01:15 GMT4
My 93 Explorer is running sluggest. It runs like it is not getting enough gas, when I'm on the road the rpm will first go up to about 2 1/2 to 3 then it drops making it feels like it's barely pulling
It started after I had the fuel pump replace. A week later I change the inline ...

Explorer lug wrench08 Jun 2006 20:12 GMT3
I snapped off my lug wrench at the flat that has the square punch-out
that serves as the jack crank handle.  Anyone know of a replacement
source short of eBay, Ford, and a wrecking yard?  The one I broke is
pretty cheap-charlie and I'd like to replace it with something better
2001 Ford Explorer that idles erratically06 Jun 2006 02:11 GMT1
I have a 01 Ford Explorer that idles erratically.  It does not effect
the car as you are driving at normal speeds just when idling.  The
check engine light has also come on.  The codes are bank 1 and 2 are
running lean.   I have replaced the fuel filter and the spark plugs are

Humming '96 EB 4x404 Jun 2006 19:16 GMT4
My '96 EB 4x4 emits a loud humming sound from the front end that is loudest
between 40 and 50 mph.  The sound goes away when I steer to the right, but
is unaffected when I steer left, so I figured that it must be the bearing
and hub assembly on the right side of the truck ...

'97 compressor not running03 Jun 2006 20:38 GMT1
I can turn the compressor, but it won't "engage."  The fanbelt part turns.
the inner part turns by hand.  Is there a thermal switch that kicks on the
clutch?
I've looked for a fuse, but no luck.  Is there a "short" that would force
