4WD Low not disengaging18 Jul 2006 05:50 GMT4
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer. 6cyl automatic. I have only used the 4wd
one time and it was fine. My 4yr old turned the switch today to 4wd Low
and now it is stuck. I turned it to high, auto, backed up, etc etc etc
and it will not disengage. It makes a but cluck when I put it in Park.

I asked my dealer for a quote on belts and hoses and got a quote of $90
for the belt, and 9 hoses at $325 total parts and over $200 labor.  I
didn't even know I had 9 hoses!!  I'm in AZ where I don't want to skimp
on replacement of rubber parts, but I am probably way late on having

My 92 Explorer stinks ... literally. Smells like something's died. Smells
all the time but is much worse when the A/C is on. Pulled the fan and the
wire-wound resistor pack and found a few leaves but no critters. Also pulled
the heater core and reached as far around as I could ...

Recently my check engine light has come on. It only comes on while on
the highway going about 75mph. It sets a code and turns off. Any

In my Chiltons manual, it says for 92-99, the adjustment for the gear
selector indicator thumbwheel is either under the steering wheel or on
the indicator itself. I have a 99 XLT, I was wondering if anyone knew
where it was and what is the best way to get at it.

I've noticed it since I bought it 8 months back, its a 2000 and is
noticeable from the rear and when parked car lean as much as 3 inches or so
on the left.

How do I turn off the check engine light? The car won't pass inspection
with it on. I tried disconnecting the battery but nothing happened. I

I have a 2003 Explore Sport w/ 98,000, and jus ttoday, my AC started
making a loud roaring sound(I  had it on high), and it goes a little
lower when I turn the fan down. Is the compressor getting ready to go
out(it gets used a lot here in Austin,TX)?

hand side.  I need a replacement caster set bolt but cannot obtain one from
the ford dealer.  Ford has changed the replacement part design to a one
piece control arm and no longer stocks or manufacturers ...

I have a 98 explorer & the driver side door handle won't work & the key
will not open it & the door will not open at all. They are manual locks
not automatic. I went to napa & they said maybe a rod inside the door
