Changing spark plugs12 Jul 2006 15:59 GMT11
How much do dealers charge to change a set of spark plugs these days?
I took a look at the layout of my '99 Mountaineer (V-8 5.0L) and there's
no way you could get to some of those plugs unless you were a miniature
trained monkey, or pulled the whole engine out.

The 2006 Explorer XLS' basic stereo has "MP3
capability".  What does this mean?  Does it mean
that you can play cds with mp3 format files on
them or does it mean you can plug an mp3
Towing- Auto trans vs manual11 Jul 2006 17:34 GMT3
I noticed in the specs for the Explorer that when equipped with auto
transmission it can tow a heavier trailer.
For example, a 1998 with 4.0L OHV engine and 3.73 differential  can tow
up to a 5160 lb trailer, vs 2700 lbs for the same specs except with a

Vehicle:  2005 Explorer, XLT, V-8, 9,000 miles.
Ever since I bought this vehicle about a year ago the battery indicator (in
the battery) has been giving me the craps.  In the beginning it varied from
amber to green and now it is red (or orange?).  I have no reason to question
? regarding Ford ( and other) warrantys10 Jul 2006 13:51 GMT4
I have a 2005 Expedition ( I know, its not an Explorer..but this group
has been helpful to me anyhow)..It has just over 34,000 miles on it.
So far a front end part had to be replaced, and then the entire gas
tank had to be replaced ( it wouldn't accept gas without kicking out
Tire Rotation Question09 Jul 2006 21:10 GMT5
I have a '95 XLT and I bought a set of Michelin M/S tires at about 100,000
miles, and have had them rotated twice since then.  They only rotate them
from front to back and vice versa, NOT from side to side.  They told me that
side to side is not a good idea now, especially since ...

Anyone know which of the wire colors in the plug on the back of the 91

but it has a different style of speaker plug...same number of ...

I've got a 97 2wd Exp with 120K on to odo.  I just had my four ball joints

"01 explorer valve clatter08 Jul 2006 01:50 GMT3
I have a 2001 Ford Explorer 4.0liter V6 that has terrible valve noise
when accelerating quickly.  When you slow down to a normal speed it
goes away.  It has 66k miles and has done this since I bought it with
17k miles on it.  The dealer has never been any help.  Is this a normal

driving. The battery charge meter was still showing that the alternator
