Engine running hot (or temp gauge showing it is)24 Aug 2006 01:49 GMT7
Okay so this started yesterday night.  My wife and I were on vacation
and had our 2001 Explorer parked over at a friend's house after being
dropped off at the airport.  We came back and it was covered with
sawdust (my friend had been doing a little wood cutting).
cannister purge solenoid? 94 explorer 4.023 Aug 2006 07:44 GMT1
I am replacing vacuum lines on my 94 EB Explorer 4X4 4.0.  The
rubber line coming from the charcoal cannister  goes to a valve of
some type on the intake.  I am having a hard time identifying the
valve in the service manual I have from Ford.

Cruise Control Steering Wheel Switch Replacement - '96 Explorer XLT
These are the switches on each side of the steering wheel air bag.
The big question is whether the steering wheel needs to be pulled on a
'96 Explorer in order to replace these switches????  There seem to be
Air conditioner problem23 Aug 2006 04:00 GMT6
1999 Explorer Limited, v8, 2wd, climate control, Florida
Yesterday evening when we went out the air didn't seem to be very cool.
We didn't go far so I just brushed it off. Today, in the heat of the
day, it seemed to be cooler outside the car than in it.  I just did
Oil gauge fluctuation...23 Aug 2006 01:35 GMT7
I have a 96 XLT with 4.0 and auto trans.
Mileage is approaching 162,000. Since about 2 weeks ago I noticed my oil
level gauge will "flash" momentarily to bottom red, then return to the
middle position.
Hidden Hitch Question?20 Aug 2006 17:39 GMT4
Has anyone had any experience with the hitches for 2000 AWD Explorer V8 with
16 inch tires?
I am looking at the Hidden-Hitch model #70647 round tube Class III-IV.
In the installation instructions it says a minor modification needs to be
Need help finding flasher module on 1998 Explorer20 Aug 2006 05:38 GMT1
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Limited w/175k miles. A couple of days ago,
I lost my turn signals abruptly. At first, I thought it might be a
fuse, but the guy at the parts store suggested that it was probably the
flasher module. He said it probably plugs into the console under the
Fan noise while towing - 2006 Explorer XLT19 Aug 2006 17:39 GMT2
Howdy...
I have a 2006 Explorer XLT V8 with the tow package
I have noticed when towing up a long hill, there is what sounds like a
'second fan' that switches on after a while. I assume this has
Message Center brightness - 2003 Explorer19 Aug 2006 03:58 GMT1
I recently purchased a 2003 Eddie Bauer Explorer.  The Message Center
display is so dim that it is hard to read in daylight.  Is there some way to
adjust the brightness of the display.  The display on the radio and climate
control system is much brighter.
Oil filter changing irritation and fuel filter question.19 Aug 2006 01:04 GMT4
I have a 2002 FE XLT V8 and I am so remarkably pissed at myself for not
being able to easily change this oil filter.  The filter wrench I have
can barely grip it and there are hoses in the way which make it
virtually impossible to unscrew.  On top of that my last oil change was

High Speed steering wheel wobble18 Aug 2006 01:56 GMT6
I recently had my ball joints and outer tie rod ends replace on my 97 2wd
explorer.  At speeds about about 60 MPH, the steering wheel wobbles back and
forth ever so slightly.  I had the front end aligned and the truck tracks
straight while going down the road, but if you let go ...

radio question-not display16 Aug 2006 16:53 GMT4
I have the Mach radio in my 2000 Limited.  Fortunately, the display problem
was fixed when car was under basic warranty.
Lately, the radio seems to have a lot of interference on the AM band-I
haven't noticed it on the FM band.
