| Car-Based Explorer? | 29 Jan 2007 21:46 GMT | 7 |
There was a report in this morning's paper saying that Ford will change the Explorer to a car-based vehicle at the next major update in three years. It said that the new Explorer would be based on the same platform as the 500 and Freestyle. This sounds like the plan is to do

| 1999 UK Explorer - beeping ! | 29 Jan 2007 14:51 GMT | 3 |
I have just acquired a 1999 UK model Explorer and I have an annoying problem. On start-up (and at apparently random times whilst driving) it emits 5 bursts of 5 beeps (the same beep as when you open the door with the key in the ignition).

| 2001 Explorer Sport Keyless Entry Code Location | 27 Jan 2007 01:48 GMT | 6 |
I cannot find this default code anywhere. I have looked under the dash, looked in the driver side rear jack storage compartment and under the hood. I checked all over the internet and everyone says it is in the jack compartment on a silver or black computer box. Not in my jack

| cleaning instrument panel | 25 Jan 2007 15:05 GMT | 2 |
There is some dust and other matter that is behind the plastic (?) shield on my instrument panel. This is the clear shield that is over the speedometer and gauges. Is there a way to remove this shield and clean behind it?

| Stop to engage 4x4? | 25 Jan 2007 05:48 GMT | 1 |
I replaced the kaput automatic hubs on my 1994 with the manual lockers from Warn. Easy job and about a thousand bucks cheaper than letting the dealer put new autos in. Anyway, my question is whether I should stop when engaging the 4x4 via the dash button or whether I can do it ...

| '98 door locks | 23 Jan 2007 22:52 GMT | 1 |
I have a problem with my '98 Explorer where the key won't unlock the door easily. I always have to turn it back and forth several times before it will catch and unlock. It seems to be worse in the winter. (Not frozen.) Funny thing is, it's the same for both front doors and the ...

I have found a lot of information on related topics but nothing that describes how one can reset the outside temperature "system" (b/c I am consistently getting readings that are 50 degrees or more warmer than the actual temp.).

| ABS question | 23 Jan 2007 03:43 GMT | 5 |
Not sure if this has been covered in the forum before or not, but I took my 1993 Explorer Sport in to the dealership I got it at (I know, big mistake...) and they would not pass it for inspection because the ABS light was on, and apparently one of the wires was missing going to ...

| 2004 Explorer ESP power window non-coverage | 21 Jan 2007 02:14 GMT | 1 |
The rear left power window on my 2004 Explorer stopped working. Dealer claims it needs some kind of shim to make it work (dealer says motor is OK). Dealer says the Ford Extended Service Plan does not cover this!! I can't find anything in the Extended Service Plan (best one that is

| Pot Hole from Hell . . . | 20 Jan 2007 20:23 GMT | 6 |
I had the sweetest and smoothest riding '92 Exploder on the planet (4wd XLT 4.0) and then two days ago I hit a major pot hole on the freeway going about 65 mph. In an instant I was driving a different vehicle. Now the steering wheel vibrates, and the suspension, and tires feel

| 1999 Ford Explorer Transmission will not hold back... | 17 Jan 2007 22:45 GMT | 7 |
I have a 1999 4WD Ford Explorer. 1st gear will not hold back at all. I put it in first, and coast down a hill. Once i reach a certain speed/rpm, it is like it is in neutral. I can rev the motor and everything. I can put it in first while stopped, and start going, and

| BLown OD repair update - 92 4x4 with automatic | 17 Jan 2007 01:04 GMT | 5 |
Got my 92 back from the tranny shop. Right at $1400 for the rebuild with 2yr/24K warranty. Asked them to save the exciting parts for me to look at. The part that caused the failure was a VERY thin radial roller bearing

| 94 XLT blown A/C fuse | 15 Jan 2007 18:35 GMT | 2 |
I have a 94 Ford Explorer XLT with a blown A/C fuse under steering column. The fuse blows again when changed. The A/C light does not come on but my blower works. I don't believe that the compressor is starting.
