seems this happens every few years, but I can't remember how I fixed it last time. Not a motor issue. More like a switch/replay/dirty contact issue or "something needs to reset" issue ideas?

Whenever I start my 2000 Ford Explorer the RPMs start at 1000 and drop down to 500. Sometimes its starts for a second then dies all together. Then there are other times where it starts fine and holds RPMs, but when I am halfway to my destination, the RPMs will drop back

my brake line leaked brake fluid onto a brake pad over the course of a few days. Brake line is fixed, *but* should the pad always be questioned after coming in contact with brake fluid???? thanks!
