Explorer 1994: Willing wipers15 May 2007 21:04 GMT1
The car is a US version, 6 cyl., auto, 182,000 miles. Sometimes the wipers
will continue to operate long after being shut off. On occasion, they even
turn themselves on the next time I start the car!
Wipers act normally from time to time, but not often enough!
99 XLT brakes squeal w/o applying brakes15 May 2007 14:52 GMT4
Last year I replaced my original front pads with Bendix brand. I did
not cut the rotors since they were in good shape. During the last
couple of months, my brakes have been squealing while driving. When I
step on the brakes , the squealing stops. I checked my calipers for

Problems with leftovers14 May 2007 03:13 GMT5
Are there any problems that may be typical with a fairly old left over
vehicle?  I've found a dealer who has two 2005 Mountaineers, both with <100
miles.  They are loaded models and are both priced around $29K.  They are
about $12K less than new and still $3K more than what KBB ...
1994 Explorer Stall14 May 2007 03:11 GMT1
I've got a '94 Explorer and as I was driving on the hottest day of the
year so far (31C) on Wednesday, my truck lost all power and was barely
idling. I pulled off the road and put the vehicle in park. It was
sputtering and wouldn't respond to the gas pedal at all. I finally

Hood Lifter(s) Not Working11 May 2007 23:27 GMT2
Hello group,
I have not been here for a while, but I have received very helpful
information before.  So far the winner was the advice about replacing my IAC
valve.
"Hum" in air intake in 98 Ford Explorer11 May 2007 22:12 GMT2
A friend of mine has a 98 Ford Explorer XLT that has an intermittent
problem - a "hum" in the air intake at times.
When you lift the hood (when it's making the noise) you can hear the
hum and putting your hand on the air intake (the box immediately above
Airconditioner Stop Leak kit??11 May 2007 06:29 GMT2
I have a 1995 XLT and apparently, from what I've read on my prior posting
here, there might be a leak in the AC coolant.  I've read that you can buy a
stop leak kit that might seal up the AC.  Does anyone have any
thoughts/suggestions on this?  Could it damage the AC system?  Is ...
Overheating 99 Ford Explorer10 May 2007 16:51 GMT5
Looking for some ideas.  Recently my Ford Explorer started
overheating.  It's a 99 4.0L SOHC with 120,000 miles.  Once it cooled
down I checked the coolant and it looks a nice green although the
overflow tank was blackish.  I started the cold vehicle up without the
Air Conditioner '95 XLT10 May 2007 16:47 GMT10
The airconditioner on my XLT just isn't giving very much cold air.  The
compressor goes on for about 2 seconds, then goes off, and then a few
seconds later goes on again for about 2 seconds.  What could the problem be?
I just had the belt tensioner replaced -- could that have ...
Radio shuts itself off09 May 2007 23:57 GMT1
98 Explorer EB with high-end "Mach" radio (the one with the display issue)
with Tape/CD/CD changer and steering wheel controls.
Recently the radio has begun shutting itself off all by itself.  I turn it
back on and it comes back but then shuts off a while later.

2004 Ford Explorer Auto 4X4 Button07 May 2007 02:43 GMT2
I just bought a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT, and have looked through the
owner's manual to see how you can tell if the Auto 4x4 is engaged.
4x4 high and low have indicator lights on the dash, but the auto 4x4
button doesn't seem to have an indicator.
