1997 4.0L won't idle25 Sep 2007 19:32 GMT3
I have a 1997 Explorer 4.0L it will start and stay running
as long as there is pressure on the accelerator pedal.
I just drove it down the road, it runs fine but will die if
I take my foot off of the pedal.
Battery Cover24 Sep 2007 00:41 GMT5
It's about time to service the battery again, I'm sure it needs some
distilled water.  Of course, this requires that the terminals be
disconnected and the cover removed.  This means the radio loses its
presets and the computer is reset to default values.  I wonder what
Rear end whine on '03 Explorer23 Sep 2007 05:05 GMT10
I'm coming up near the end of my extended warrantee on my '03 Explorer and
I'm hearing some whine from the rear end. Is this subject to a TSB or is it
a known issue? I'm at 70k miles and have never towed anything with this car.

1996 Ford Explorer22 Sep 2007 06:14 GMT5
I have a question about my Air Conditioning Compressor on my 1996 Ford Explorer.  Can the compressor be removed and replaced without having to go through a professional shop.  My clutch is making noise, I think it is a bearing issue and the area around the clutch is reddish brown ...

fdr04-aux for explorer17 Sep 2007 02:14 GMT2
I have a 96 xlt V8 with the factory 6cd changer/tape - no sub.
Although the CDs are better than the radio, I would like to play an
mp3 player through the system and not use one of the awful rf
modulators.
Identify Sound System15 Sep 2007 16:08 GMT1
Can the sound system be identified from the vin?  Seems the options
(according to Crutchfield) are Mach, Premium, and Standard.  I'm pretty
sure mine is Premium, but not certain.  FWIW it's a cd/cassette with 6
disk changer in the console.
XM for 2003 Explorer EB15 Sep 2007 01:53 GMT2
I'm looking for an XM addon for my 2003 Explorer.
I currently have the factory 6 disk in dash stereo w/ DVD player in back.
Looks like there are some you can install behind the dash that use the Aux
port.
Starting motor??15 Sep 2007 00:23 GMT1
My 1994 Explorer has been experiencing hard starting lately, though the
battery test shows a full charge.  I had to jump it today to get home from
work.  At home, I cleaned the battery terminals and reconnected.  The
starting motor turns, but not the engine, and there is a ...
Wierd electrical on 200013 Sep 2007 19:21 GMT8
Good newsgroup. I read here often, especially since we have 2
Explorers, and found answers in the archives plenty of times. But
finally found something I need to discuss. If anybody can help, I'd
certainly appreciate it.

Scratched Windshield.... HELP?13 Sep 2007 17:20 GMT1
I have 3 slight scratches on my windshield, I think there form the
wipers. Is there anyway to buff these out of the glass or what can I
do to improve my situation. Thanks
Dealer Recommended Service11 Sep 2007 19:38 GMT7
I just got back from having the dealer change oil, rotate tires and
perform state inspection on my '05 Limited (45,000 miles on it).  This
dealer has started something new and gave me a seven-page printout of
everything their technician "found" to require attention along with
1997 Explorer 8 cyl Starter or Solenoid11 Sep 2007 19:00 GMT1
My Explorer will start fine most of the time but other times it just
clicks once when i turn the ley.  I can retry and it starts fine.
Today it just clicked and it had to retry it 10 times before it
started.  Im guessing the starter solenoid is bad.  Question,  is the
1998 Ford Explorer - unknown part?10 Sep 2007 14:49 GMT4
I found an odd part hanging behind the bumper on the drivers side.  In
the same area is an existing fog light and another connector which is
plugged up (Don't know what it is either).  The third one which is in
question is threaded one one end and kind-of looks like a temp sensor
