Whenever I get up to 50 or 60 mph and slow down from this speed (take
foot off gas) the engine makes a load whirring noise/loud strain when
down shifting.  I took it to a transmission place.  Transmission needs
to be rebuilt to the tune of $1700 - 2100. Mileage is 252k.  Does this

I'm considering buying an 05 Expedition located in Massachusetts. I
did a Carfax check on it and found it was sold originally in the
Canadian Market in Quebec and imported to the States when it was a
year old. The Safety Compliance Certification Label found in the

94 Auto Door Locks Not22 Feb 2008 17:45 GMT7
My wife's 1994 Explorer XLT 8-cylinder is starting to get a
little long in the tooth apparently. It recently clicked over
the 150K mile when multiple things simply gave up their
collective ghosts.

About 6 months ago I recall someone posting a link for a maintenance pdf, if
I recall correctly it was from Ford.
I have tried searching Google to find it, with no luck.  Would someone
please post the link or perhaps give me some tips on how to find it in
70,000 on '03 Mountaineer16 Feb 2008 15:06 GMT11
Well, our 2003 Mountaineer Premier V8 is approaching 70,000 miles. I
just spent $1200 for rear brakes/rotors, new springs and front bearings.
It seems to be running great now and is not as loud as before (see my
prior posts). I have been thinking about a new Mteer/Explorer....but ...

I have a 95 Explorer 4 door XLT with manual transmission and 133,000

told me that Exp. was barely turning over when she tried to start it,
but it would run fine when it did start. When I got home and tried to
Ball joints13 Feb 2008 20:49 GMT7
Just got off the phone with a local Ford dealer who was doing a cruise control

lower ball joint wear on both sides and recommended replacement at a cost of
$500+. He said failure to repair would cause ...

New Spark Plugs05 Feb 2008 16:36 GMT2
At what mileage should spark plugs be changed on a 2003 Mountaineer V8?
Currently I am at 70K miles and I seem to recall that someone said they
are hard to remove at the recommended 100,000 miles. Outta I do this now
or just wait?
Ford Transmissions05 Feb 2008 16:32 GMT1
I was reading the latest issue of Automobile magazine yesterday and
came across a column blasting American auto companies for providing
much better cars to the European market than they provide to the
American market.  One of their prime examples was the Focus (totally
