Is it normal for these to require replacement after a few years?, IE 1996 V8 What's the cheapest price for these? ford's told me $95 The one on my Mercedes was $45 - ford parts are cheap, I think not.

The missus accidentally put diesel in the XE (4.1) the other day on her way to work. The car was rescued the following morning after the task of siphoning the tank to the last drop I could get out was complete (Why couldn't it have a drain plug!!). Filled with 10 litres of petrol ...

My radio/casette player got disconnected from the battery while an RACV guy was getting the car started. Its one of the ones without the clock, with the little joystick for changing the balance. Now it wont start without a security code - which I don't have.

So what is the trick in getting a battery out of an EL Falcon. Unbolt it but it still won't budge. Has a plastic cover around it which seems to not want to separate. Is this supposed to stay behind or does it come out with it?? Is there something else holding it????

Had the head done on my 4L EBII about a year ago. I now have a small oil leak at the front centre of the head gasket. There is no mixture of oil / water occuring. Can I 'patch' this up somehow...ie a bit of silicon or something? What should I use and how shoukd I go about it.

I can't find a Australian Ford Fairlane specific newsgroup. So I hope it's ok with this group to post here looking for parts. I do have a EB Falcon too if that helps to qualify me :-) Had the first 500mm or so of my Fairlane ripped off by a speeding car.
