I lost reverse gear, backing slowly in a parking lot: Bang! Then I took it in to be fixed to an independent transmission specialist. He told me he could fix it for $525. I thought a day and called to ask him if he is going to replace the transmission or fix it, and he said

Picking the brains of others... My 2000 GT (5-speed) has had a slapping/knocking/pinging noise since it had something like 20,000 miles on it, maybe before that. It happens around 1,500 rpm - 2,000 rpm. I hear it under moderate acceleration,
