Mystery module21 Oct 2005 03:47 GMT12
   I have a 96 F350 4x4 w/ 5.8L and no air conditioning.  While underneath
my truck replacing the tie rods, I noticed a module a little smaller than my
hand mounted just above and behind the bumper, below the headlight that I
couldn't identify anywhere in my Haynes manual.  It's ...
99 F350 - ceramic or semi-metallic pads?21 Oct 2005 01:59 GMT4
I'm replacing the disk pads all the way around on my 99 F350 superduty - I
carry a lot of weight in this unit (its a dually with a dump bed) and
anything to increase braking power would help.  Are ceramics worth the extra
costs?  Thanks
EGR Valve Problem 1997 Ford Expedition20 Oct 2005 14:55 GMT4
Hello everyone I have a question I have a 97 Ford Expedition and the
check engine light came on so I went to my local Auto Zone to get the
free check on it, and it came back "EGR Valve Insufficent Flow", so
then I take it to my local mechanic just to get a 2nd opinion and yup
Transmission extension housing removal? 19 Oct 2005 16:32 GMT9
Hiya
In an attempt to correct some deep vibration I get when driving 55-65mph,
I'm going to be replacing the extension housing seal and bushing on my 1995
Ford E250 4.9L L6. I've already replaced the u-joints. The seal has some
Rear drum brake question this time18 Oct 2005 04:32 GMT12
For those of you with vechicles with rear drums, do you reguarly check the
adjustment, or do you find that the auto adjustment keeps them adjusted
pretty well?

What is this "thud" after starting17 Oct 2005 00:29 GMT9
Virtually every time I start my `04 Ranger (4.0 Auto)  I hear, and feel a
thud coming from the engine\transmission area, as best I can tell from
sitting in the drivers seat.
Sounds like a stuck brake caliper when it releases.

Determining transmission model?16 Oct 2005 04:09 GMT5
1995 Ford E250 4.9L L6 cargo van here.  The transmission pan has no labeling
or other identification.  Lot salesman told me it's a 3-speed, but this
same guy also initially told me it was a V8 (it's a straight 6).  Gear
shifter dial has 'D', '1', '2'.  I've been assuming it's a C6 ...
Lug nut torque spec on my 03 Ranger16 Oct 2005 03:52 GMT7
I just looked at the manual and it says to torque the lug nuts to 100
ft/lbs. It does not make a distinction between the steel wheels or the alum.
wheels that are on my vechicle. Is it the same for both? Also what is the
tolerance? I have an old torque wrench, but have no idea ...

DIY disk brake pad replacement14 Oct 2005 05:33 GMT4
Ok folks, I'm thinkin maybe it's time I started doing these myself, so gonna
ask just how difficult is it? I haven't been mechanically intimate with a
vechicle for over 30 years, I'm 62 now, and never did do a brake job on
anything. I have an 03 Ranger with about 36,000 miles on ...
