Are they any good? I've got an '08 Ranger 3.0, and I'm currently running
Pennzoil 5W30, but I'm considering changing to Mobil 1 and /or something
like Slick 50. Is it worth the cash? Any particular brands to stay away
from? TIA.

couldn't start my truck the other day, so I replaced the battery.
still no go, followed the wires and found some green corrosion where
the cable is held by a clamp to the truck frame. did a bit more
digging and found the cable completely corroded thru.

Is any brand preferable to any other?  I know that when I had the oil
pan gasket replaced the mechanic used what looks like neoprene.  Is
there something similar available for the lifter covers?  I ought to be
able to handle those myself...  just dreaming of a leak free engine.  ...

A riding buddy of mine had somebody do the head gaskets on his '98 Ranger
V6.  When he got it back, it idled high and the check engine light was on.
I looked it over and found an open vacuum port between the heads on the back
of the intake.  Plugged it and his running  problems ...
