My A/C is almost on empty and I've heard that the old systems cannot be
refilled due to environmental laws.
I've been told that I have to replace the whole system, while another person
told me I can buy a legal refill kit.

We've got a '96 model Australian Ford Taurus Ghia(fully imported).
Just yesterday the alternator in it died, and we were just quoted the
ridiculous sum of $1400AUD to have it replaced. I was wondering if any
of you knew whether it would be possible for us to import the part

Short version: does the orientation of the PCV valve matter? They seem to
be installed within a few degrees of vertical in nearly all OEM
applications. I would like to mount one horizontally... will the valve
still operate correctly? Will any problems result?

What year did ford start fitting an Oxidation catalyst to its diesel cars?
And does anyone know what is the expected life span of these catalyst?

Howdy I have a 88 ford tempo with a 4cly and a auto transmission .My
question is I can shift to reverse and drive but when driving it will not
shift to second and third the car has been sitting for 6 years and I just
got it back up and running put fresh tranny fluid in it that ...

does this engine last a long time (say 200K miles) if maintained ok?
is it a good reliable engine? how about the car?

I've been told that my ball joints are bad on m 4x4 1996 ford ranger (4.0).  
First, how can I tell if they are bad or which ones are bad.
Second, is it something a backyard mechanic can do?

My 96 Contour GL (4 cylinder Zetec 2.0 Litre) runs rough when idling. I mean
i start the car, idles high for a moment, then standard idling is fine. I
put it in Reverse, and back out of my parking, then put in DRIVE, and as

97 vic 4.6L  w code engine.  does this have 2 ect on it? intake has 2
sensors in front on same water passage. 1 on drivers side and 1 on pass side
next to gauge sending unit. which one is the ect?
getting a lot of spark knock with no codes stored/visible. dealer suggested

Is there away to turn of the service engine light using the ignition. I have
a small crack where my gas cap goes on and it triggers the engine service
light.

I have a 97 taurus GL with the silly oval stereo tape deck. This one has
CD-changer controls on it for a trunk mounted changer, but doesn't have the
actual changer installed.
What's involved in installing a changer in the trunk? which brands will work
