'93 Aerostar questions12 Aug 2004 02:22 GMT4
A couple of questions concerning our mini-van:
-Any suggestions on diagnosing a problem with the fuel gauge?
Specifically, it almost always show empty (yes, even after a fill-up), with
the exception of after driving for perhaps an hour or so it will start to

90 Taurus SHO engine temperature gauge11 Aug 2004 23:12 GMT1
I just had a friend help me replace the radiator in a 1990 Ford Taurus
SHO that had been leaking lots of coolant. Now there are no more leaks
but the engine temperature gauge on the dashboard doesn't move. It
just sits at zero. I've been told that we probably plugged one of the

1998 Ford Escort stuck in Park11 Aug 2004 18:48 GMT2
I have a 1998 Escort with 39000 miles on it.  I don't drive it much!
After sitting unused for several weeks, I found it would not shift out
of park.  The brake lights go on and I can hear a small click from the
console when I apply the brakes.  So it probably is the solenoid.

Taurus engine problems11 Aug 2004 05:21 GMT5
My good daily driver sedan got totaled a few weeks
ago. Lacking the funds to replace with the like, I purchased a
"problem child" car a neighbor got fustrated with. Its a 93 taurus
with 88,000 miles, ran poorly. only paid $75. for it since our
96 Sable Wagon CD Player Stuck - already tried fuse trick11 Aug 2004 02:51 GMT3
The CD player in my 96 Sable Stn Wagon (six-disc cartridge, installed in
trunk) does not release the cartridge. When pressing the cartridge release
button the player attempts to pull in the first disk, retries several times,
then gives up without releasing the cartridge.
1994 F150 2WD 5L torque spec caliper retaining bolt/pin11 Aug 2004 02:08 GMT1
Can anyone look up for me the torque specification for the bolt/pin
that secures the caliper to the front suspension assy on a 1994 F150
2WD 5L manual transmission.  The bolt/pins are about 3" long and only
threaded partially to allow the caliper to float; they are about 3/8",
97 Taurus S/W Catalytic Converter10 Aug 2004 00:41 GMT2
This 3.0 L Vulcan model has a y-pipe containing dual catalytic
converters.  110K miles.  The bank B catalyst shows failure on
measurements, and a P0430 code.  According to what I have read, Ford
says that the P0430 code cannot be set by bad sensors, it is a bad
5.0 in 86 Van loosing oil pressure10 Aug 2004 00:07 GMT14
I was driving my van the other nite (e150 with 5.0) and when I fully
accellerated from a start, it shifted to third gear, I lost oil pressure,
why is that, and when I park it and it is not running for a few, when I
start it back up it is fine, what would make it do that?
96 T-bird emissions (I guess?) prob09 Aug 2004 18:35 GMT9
That light!  That light!  I bet you know which one I'm talking about.  Yep,
that blasted check engine light!
It first came on around 32k miles (the car now has 46k -- no, it isn't
driven much).  The light is accompanied by clatter, which worsens as the

Venting about Replacement exhausts09 Aug 2004 17:15 GMT4
Has anyone else made the same observation? Have a '95 Escort. But I could be
talking about almost any car. When the exhaust started getting noisy, we had it
replaced at the local tire/exhaust/brake shop. We purchased the car when it was
almost new, so I'm sure the exhaust had never ...
