97 Sable Wheel Studs30 Nov 2004 17:35 GMT1
I broke 3 rear wheel studs changing over to snow tires on the weekend.  I
had a dragging brake issue about a year ago that heated the rim for a few
months and then went away mysteriously.  Undoubtedly the heat caused
brittleness.
Heater core 87 GM & similar30 Nov 2004 10:16 GMT1
(below provided for future benefit of those foolish enough to try this
repair)
Thanks to those that made suggestions.  I opted to replace the core.  The
Chilton manual is roughly correct except that it contains some unnecessary

Squealing Electronic climate control 99 CV30 Nov 2004 04:52 GMT1
My 99 Crown Vic's Automatic climate control lets out a high pitched squeal
sometimes.  If the system is turned off for a few minutes it starts to
squeal.  Selecting any setting stops the squealing for a short period.  It
ussually takes a few minutes of changing settings before the ...
My '78 ford30 Nov 2004 04:50 GMT3
Heya!  I was checking out my weird tire wear and discovered that I have like
3/8-1/2 play on each tire.  The play is coming from the rack and pinion
where it attaches from the rod.  Is this fixable by replacing some kind of
bushing?  Do I need to buy a replacement rack?  Thanks ...
95 Ford Taurus grinding sound... HELP...30 Nov 2004 03:24 GMT1
Recently purchased this used 95 Fort Taurus. Firestone replaced some
gasket this last saturday in their transmission service they said
would fix transmission fluid leak. Today there was some grinding(i
think) sound from under the front passenger side seat just twice. What
1978 Ford Fairmont30 Nov 2004 00:51 GMT1
Heya.  I have another question about my POS.
My front tires seem to be wearing weird, so I jack up the front end to check
the bearings.  They are fine but DAM! there is like a 1/4 to 3/8 inches of
play where the shaft(rod?) goes into the rack (rack and pinion steering?).
94 aspire heater core30 Nov 2004 00:48 GMT1
I'm having a heat problem.  The only time I get any heat in my cab is when
the engine is reving.  If it's sitting at an idle, I get nothing.
The engine is up to temp.
Does this vehicle have some sort of vacuum valve to the heater core?  I
NEW MUSTANG29 Nov 2004 21:41 GMT8
I never liked the design of previous mustangs(1994 to 2004), that's why
I didn't buy one.  I never understood people who bought that car, it is
just too ugly.
But this new one(2005), I like.  In my opinion, it looks beautiful. I
98 Sable - Better than OEM Struts29 Nov 2004 17:38 GMT2
It's (far beyond) time to have the struts replaced on my 98 Sable GS.  I've
been driving a 2003 Taurus while my own car is in the shop and I can
definitely tell a difference in both handling and ride quality.  While the
Taurus seems to handle large, harsh bumps better than my car ...
Opinions on business venture29 Nov 2004 14:34 GMT19
I am looking for an opinion on a business venture,
I was a Ford tech for many years and have about 25 years total as an automotive
tech.   I always liked doing electrical and AC work. About 5years ago I retrained in
IT. In 2003 I was laid off from my IT job and am as yet ...

Is it EGR or PCV or what? 96 Windstar 3.829 Nov 2004 04:35 GMT3
There is a vacuum port of some kind on the top of the engine toward the
drivers side. Right where the air intake connects to the intake manifold.
What is it?
The reason I ask is because there is a rubber boot that connects this valve
95 Taurus shifting problem29 Nov 2004 00:56 GMT21
I hope someone can help.  My 95 Taurus has been shifting weird.  It'll
seem like it slips to neutral sometimes while I'm driving....engine
revs, I push the pedal a couple of times and then it'll 'find itself'
and be okay.  Then it also will downshift with a hard clunk as if I'd
Creaky suspension on Grand Marquis28 Nov 2004 21:58 GMT2
I have a 2000 Grand Marquis with 63K miles, and the suspension makes
creaking noises when going over uneven surfaces and speed bumps at low
speed.  I assume this is from rubber bushings of some sort in the suspension
or anti-roll bar(s).  Are there particular places these noises ...
