Crappy FORD factory manuals06 Nov 2004 19:05 GMT6
Who does Ford get to write their shop manuals?
It's bad enough that they are all but incomprehensible, even to a
mechanic - without being totally inacurate in many ways to boot.
Case in point. Just got a 1996 Merc Mystique for the wife - fully
ID Taurus transaxel?06 Nov 2004 17:59 GMT10
Have a 99 Taurus.  Evidently Ford uses 2 transaxel types on this car, AX4N
or AX4S for the 3.0 engines.  The type transaxel is supposed to be on a tag
over the bell housing but on mine it has decomposed in engine oil.
My book says the TransAx ID is also on the "Main valve cover ...
Trunk opens but not fully06 Nov 2004 14:31 GMT3
The trunk lid on my 99 Taurus does not pop all the way up like it used
to. Now it opens about 1" from the trunk. The lid will stay fully open
if it's lifted.
I've checked the hinge assembly for binding or any sign of damaged or
which thermostat shud I use??06 Nov 2004 03:48 GMT13
I have a 1996 Taurus GL 3.0L OHV vulcan engine....I've noticed that the
heater doesn't provide warm air like it used to last winter, so I am
changing the thermostat tomorrow....the stock thermostat opens at
192 degrees, but I want warm air in the cabin sooner, so I bought a factory
problems with heating system; hot engine (Windstar 96)06 Nov 2004 02:11 GMT8
Recently I got the battery replaced in my 96 Windstar. When I was
coming back home I noticed two strange things: 1/ the heating systems
was not working properly (taking long to get any hot air and breaks in
hot air - i.e. the ear coming out was hot/cold/hot);
rough running van06 Nov 2004 00:56 GMT10
I hope someone on here can help. I have an e-150 conversion van with the 5.8
(351 clev) engine. I made a round trip of aprox. 220 miles and went through
20 gallons of gas. The problem started about 20 miles into the trip, bad
idle, lots of black smoke, stumbling @part throttle. ...

Ford Escort Wiring Diagram05 Nov 2004 11:47 GMT2

K&N air filters, are they any good ?05 Nov 2004 07:07 GMT66
Are K&N air filters any good. I have read much about them recently.
In fact I have ordered one to replace my standard paper filter. I pick
it up tomorrow $47 plus tax.
I.m not interested in more HP but the more air flow interests me
[Mondeo] Gazol measure05 Nov 2004 06:49 GMT1
I don't know if this is a problem or not, here is my question :
On my Mondeo, the gazol measure (into the "cockpit") shows the gazol level
even if the engine is stopped and keys out...
I have unplugged the battery, and the measure still doesn't go to "0"
Ever buy tires from Pep Boys?05 Nov 2004 06:48 GMT4
I had a horrible experience buying tires from Pep Boys. They are liars and
cheaters. I purchased four tires at $50 each and the salesman proceeds to tell
me the total will be close to $400! Obviously, I was flabbergasted and asked
why so high. Then he breaks down the price, quickly ...
2005 Escape - Wind Noise ?05 Nov 2004 04:44 GMT5
Has any have this problem while driving on the highway ?  Hearing wind noise
from the engine and/or windows ?  I read that this is a problem for some
owners.  I recently purchased the 05 Escape XLS and dont have this problem
but want to make sure it doesn't happen later on.

95 Aerostar - Water blowout into bell-housing, hidden freeze plug, head gasket or cracked block?  Urgent, watching!04 Nov 2004 21:57 GMT4
Please!  Last week engine overheated when heater control valve fractured.
Got very hot without hot thermostat, as water blew out before boiling.  May
not have waited long enough before adding water.  Could have cracked block.
Today, lost water again.  All external freeze plugs ...
