Ford Escort 1.3 in question dowsn't want to cold start, battery was changed, battery signal light is on, and starter won't turn, but when connected to the other car with wires it starts, what could that be?

I would like to know if it's worth installing a new belt on a 2.0 liter engine ?? Timing belt broke-up . Are these engines considered interference engines?? I don't want to install a new belt if it's absolutely sure that the valves are bent .

My initial thought was to replace the iginition switch with that accomplished the same problem still occurs. What happens is I insert the key and turn it all the way to the starting position and nothing happens. I have pressed the clutch in while attempting to start it

I've been seeing quite a few used 2003 - 2004 Mercury Marauders showing up on the used car lots or dealer lots. Most I've seen have very low miles or have no more than 24,000 miles tops. Prices seem to range $23,000 to $26,000.
