How many pinouts on this ECU?17 Dec 2004 02:49 GMT5
Just wondering, for a 1990 Ford Escort GT, 1.9 liter, EEC-IV, how many
pinouts are on the ECU?  Someday I might find a breakout box and I want
to be able to spot it.
Also, other than a junkyard, anyone know where I can get a reman or OEM
O2 Sensors: A parable.17 Dec 2004 01:58 GMT9
There was once a blonde who had uncanny mechanical skills.
Anything that broke, she somehow knew how to fix it.. but when she bought a
car for the first time, it taught her a lesson.
She noted that the gauges moved at various times, the longer she drove the
Ford vs. Toyota Trucks17 Dec 2004 00:28 GMT6
I have a very simple question.  How come Toyota makes better trucks
than Ford (According to Consumer Reports data).  I know
I want a Ford, but it's just frustrating that the Toyota's always
score better.  Both companies have equal access to engineers and

7 lug nuts?16 Dec 2004 18:09 GMT4
I noticed a Ford van that appeared to have 7 lug nuts. Was that only the
hubcap, or do they really have 7 lugs?

Taurus starts/stalls when let off gas16 Dec 2004 18:09 GMT7
Hello all...new here. I have a 99 Taurus with the 24V Duratec engine.  It
has been well maintained and given me no problems in the 140,000 miles it
has on it...until now.  The problem is:
I can start the vehicle, but I have to hold the gas pedal down to keep it
failed emissions test16 Dec 2004 16:55 GMT5
I recently had the check engine light illuminate and the test displayed
codes p0171 and p0174. I changed all 3 o2 sensors and the light went out.
I took the car for the vehicle emissions test and it failed with the same
codes displayed but no check engine light. Later that day the ...
Rough take-off from stop16 Dec 2004 16:01 GMT8
Hello all. I appreciate any advice.
I have a 98 Taurus SE with the 24 valve Duratec engine (I think), about
150,000 miles on it. Recently, the car has been very jerky when taking off
from a stop or near-stop. It's as if the transmission can't find the lowest
2002 Expy16 Dec 2004 14:27 GMT5
My wife's 02 Expedition has 28,000 miles, it has the big engine, it uses
about a quart of oil per 1k miles. When it sets overnight and started a big,
big puff of white smoke comes out the exaust. I guess my question is, is
this my oil burning problem? It does not smoke after the ...
Alternator and Turn Signals16 Dec 2004 03:37 GMT3
92 F150, 351W, power everything, a/c
On my way home my (stock 80 amp) alternator seemed to go bad.  The guage
dropped close to 8 and the alternator light went on.  I took the alternator
out and went to have it tested.  it tested fine at just below 14 volts.  So
2004 Focus headlights16 Dec 2004 03:30 GMT5
I find that the headlights in our car do not iluminate the road very well.
I've asked the dealer and was told that any of  these so called "brighter"
replacement headlights I can buy at Canadian Tire are actuall illegal in
Canada. Yet another dealer told me to go ahead and ...
Mazda help please!16 Dec 2004 02:36 GMT7
My 2000 626 LX had to be towed into the dealer because it is stuck in park.
The dealer says I need a new shift cable and with the tow I am looking at a
total of close to $700.
My question to the group is, has anyone here ever replaced a cable in this
surging '95 Taurus16 Dec 2004 00:50 GMT1
1995 Taurus GL with 3.0L engine, 360 000km.
When in park or neutral the car won't idle smooth, it keeps surging, as if
someone were pressing the accelerator about once a second.
In gear it idles normally.
94 Crown Vic wont idle15 Dec 2004 06:39 GMT5
My 94 Crown Vic starts, idles and runs fine when it is cold.  If I restart
the car after it has warmed-up, it will not idle.  After it warms-up, it
will still start and run fine, just not idle.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
