Seized Caliper Mount21 Jan 2005 03:02 GMT13
One of the caliper mounts on my Sable won't "accordian" in, therefore I
can't install new brake pads.  I tried compressing it with a 4" clamp and
broke the cast frame of the clamp!  I tried tapping it with a hammer, then
hitting it harder, then finally bashing it but it remains ...

Check Engine Light20 Jan 2005 19:17 GMT6
My check engine light has been on for awhile.  I did get a scan and
appearently it has something to do with the EGR.  I did take it in for the
Ontario Emission test thing and it passed.  Any idea what it might be ?.  A
defective sensor perhaps. ?
Washer Fluid Filter?20 Jan 2005 18:31 GMT5
My washer fluid resevoir was leaking, was frequently filling it up not
realizing this.  Last time I filled it up I was out again within a few
days, filled it up and took a look at the hose going from the washer
fluid pump to the spray nozzles and noticed a small white filter
Ford Posts Profit, Autos Disappoint Again20 Jan 2005 18:05 GMT1
DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. on Thursday reported a quarterly
profit, reversing a year-earlier loss, as earnings from its finance arm
offset weak automotive operations.
The No. 2 U.S. automaker said fourth-quarter net income was $104
2002 Taurus Cold Vent Problem20 Jan 2005 16:53 GMT1
I have an 02 Taurus and in really cold weather like now the driver's
side dash vent blows cool almost cold air when the cabin operating
temperature is reached. When I start the car on a cold morning the
engine warms up and heat comes evenly from all dash vents. If I set the

Fuel Pump Seal20 Jan 2005 04:04 GMT1
Seems that I am having problems getting my fuel tank to seal properly when I
put on the locking ring that holds in the fuel pump.  Gas is leaking out the
top when I fill up.  I had this off a couple weeks ago and this is the first
time I have filled up.
Intake / Engine / Unmetered Air Leaks - Smoke testing?20 Jan 2005 00:55 GMT6
Just wondering if anyone know of any "poor man's" techniques of
detecting vacuum/engine/intake air leaks by forcing smoke or compressed
air into an engine.  There is equipment on the market but its well over
the $1000 mark.
Ford Five Hundred19 Jan 2005 18:25 GMT31
Has anyone seen the new Five Hundred? I saw it at the NYC auto show. It
looks a lot like the Contour.
Anyone else have opinions on it?

social commentary, performance art or smut?18 Jan 2005 23:52 GMT2
I just came across the website for a video called "hunting for bambi".
>From the looks of it, it seems to be a low-brow stab at the OLN/Playboy
genres of cable networks, but also comes across as a misogynist
celebration of gun culture. Does anybody have any insight or opinions
98 Sable - Disc Rotor Quality18 Jan 2005 23:16 GMT10
I have an annoying problem with my front discs warping too easily.  I've
tried to avoid all the water I can, and yet a few months after I've
replaced the front brakes and discs, the damned things are already warping
again.  The lugnuts are torqued, too, so it's not that.
