I have been fighting a high idle problem on my 91 5.0 L H.O. engine.
I unplugged the IAC, no change in idle. I removed IAC and cleaned it with carb cleaner, re-installed  it. No change, still idles at 2000 rpm.
I unplugged the TPS , no change ! Shouldn't that make a difference?

I took the car into the local Ford Dealer and said fix it around
Thanksgiving.  They kept it for a week or so.  The coolant overflow was
about half full with oil.  I drove it for a 1000 miles and had a inch of oil
in the overflow.  They flushed and I have driven another 1000 ...

I got angry with my Escort this morning and decided once and for all to
track down the horrible rattle at idle. I discovered that the rattle
stops if I apply about 5lb of lifting force to the front bumper. The
noise occurs because the two outer mounting tabs on the header panel

I've checked Haynes, Chiltons and alldata and none of these resources
state what the brake fluid capacity is on my car.
