How the US fell out of love with its cars (from the UK & Guardian Unlimited)31 Jan 2006 14:25 GMT5
I believe that this can be reasonably construed as  a life & death struggle
for the manufacturing base of the nation.  I wonder when Detroit will ever
get around to making those responsible, those in the boardrooms, pay as they
are making people on the shop floor pay.
O/D in the city31 Jan 2006 13:17 GMT13
Just curious, I have never used overdrive in town, but have been wondering
if it makes any difference in gas mileage to speak of? Thanks.

thepartsbin.com.  They take your money but don't count on getting parts31 Jan 2006 02:23 GMT4
I ordered a bunch of brake parts for the car.  The parts never came.  I
can't get in touch with a real person.  Won't respond to emails.
Got ripped off.  Time for a credit card dispute.  Hopefully this will
save some of you the same hassle

Gas turbine/electric hybrid?30 Jan 2006 17:23 GMT46
Lack of fuel economy and pick-up was the principle operational deficiency
of pure turbine power.  Might not this be solved by using a gas turbine
intermittently to charge a battery which then drives an electric propulsion
motor?
steering fluid ques?30 Jan 2006 15:11 GMT8
Is there a proper way to change steering fluid??
-Do you have to bleed the line somehow to keep air out??
-or can you just siphon off the resevoir and replace a few times?

Distributor Question29 Jan 2006 21:19 GMT10
I recently replaced the distributor in my Ford F-150 400eng. with a
rebuilt from the local parts store.  I have poor eyesight, and could
not read the timing marks real well, so I timed it "by ear".  The
other day a friend came to visit from out of town.  He's a retired
Toyota, GM, and Ford differences29 Jan 2006 17:03 GMT259
I'm cross-posting this in  alt.autos.gm  with the hope that GM will
improve its quality of manufacturing and avoid bankruptcy.
The latter half of the following Detroit News excerpt is especially
helpful to GM.

Ranger 4.0L 2001 - 2004 - QUESTION!!!!29 Jan 2006 01:37 GMT2
I was looking at getting a newer used Ford Ranger 4.0L or Mazda B4000
extended cab 2 wheel drive truck.  I have read that the gas mileage is
almost the exact same with the 3.0L and the 4.0L so might as well go with
the bigger one - right?
