80K miles on 97 Taurus GL, seems like the lever is stuck in P and doesn't move. We went to a nearby Meineke mechanic who shortened a wire around the brake pedal and it solved the problem. However he told us to go to a Ford dealer so they can fix it permanently.

Hi, I haven't found any posts in this newsgroup with engine problem I have with my 96 Taurus LX Wagon (255k kms=160k miles) There is some srtange noise coming from a valve cover of rear bank of cylinders.
