Code Reader and more ?15 Oct 2006 16:03 GMT2
Anybody know of a good code reader for
the OBD2 systems ? I was thinking of a
good one, because I will probably use it
allot. Maybe a more deluxe one is what I

1990 Escort GT - Throttle Position Sensor, Idle voltage15 Oct 2006 05:10 GMT2
Just searching around the 'net yielded a few pointers about the TPS
output voltage at idle... seems like most Ford vehicles expect the TPS
to output just under 1 volt.  I have mine set to output 0.9 volts via
the throttle plate stop screw.  Just curious if this is about right
Installing moonroof in 1999 Grand Marquis LS14 Oct 2006 20:16 GMT7
It's about the only thing I don't have (along with fog lights, but
that's way easier)
I'd like to have a moonroof (kinda like the OEM one, not the cheap
pop-up type)
Ever seen one of these trucks?14 Oct 2006 20:00 GMT5
I saw a Ford truck today different than I've ever seen.  It was the
"Heritage" style F-150 extended cab, 4x4.  The badge on the tailgate said
"F150 7700."  I interpret that to mean it's an F150, right?   But the thing
had the heavy duty axles and 7 or 8 bolt wheels of the 250-350 ...
poor electrical14 Oct 2006 05:41 GMT7
I have a 97 Taurus and the turn signal is bad.
I have owned fords off and on. I have noticed
that fords seem to have poor quality/design
in the various electrical switches in their products.
Warranty Reimbursement non-dealership work14 Oct 2006 00:39 GMT1
I recently (6 weeks ago) took my '97 Windstar in for an oil change at our
independent shop, and they told me that both front coil springs were broken
and needed replacement. They were, so I told them to replace them, since we
were planning a road trip in 3 days. I asked them how ...
1995 ford contour won't start13 Oct 2006 16:11 GMT1
2 weeks ago the timing belt didn't break but the pulleys? did.  She had
just started it and didn't drive but a second.   Had all that replaced.
Runs ok for a week.  Then last week it overheats (the daughter was
driving and didn't pay attention to what was going on).  The lower
Plastic Ramps and Pads13 Oct 2006 09:33 GMT1
Yet another knock on effect of the new van is that my old wooden
ramps are a touch narrow for the fatter tyres.
I am thinking of getting some of the proprietary plastic ramps,
especially if I can get a good price whilst at the NEC.
91 Town Car moon roof question.13 Oct 2006 02:04 GMT2
Three out of four buttons make sense. Forward most has and LED and is marked
ASC.  What does that one do?  I found an owners manual for a 92, but that
year had differnt moon roof switches.  And for those who are wondering: the
old AOD had shrapnel in it. Some parts just not there ...
Ford Escape 2002 - Trouble Starting Up12 Oct 2006 22:56 GMT2
My girlfriend owns a Ford Escape 2002.  Last night it wouldn't start.
There were no previous problems.
When you turn the key, the engine tries to turn over, but won't.
Even when you give it some gas it just gives a very weak: Rrrr...

Ford Escort Electrical Question / Blower Motor12 Oct 2006 19:44 GMT3
I have a 1994 Ford Escort.   When I turn on the heater, I notice a drag
on the motor and the lights dim a little bit.   This happens repeatedly
on a cycle, somewhere around 10 seconds.  I still get heat, but it's
the same kind of feelind like the compressor is kicking in.
Troubleshooting '89 302 Charging system12 Oct 2006 18:18 GMT8
This is on a 1989 F-150.  The truck sits for a long time, probably over
six weeks since it was last used.  The battery light comes on, and the
(built in) voltmeter is lower than normal, but still in the "OK" range.
If I put an analog meter across the terminals, the battery reads 12
