Horn Ring needed for safety's sake24 Dec 2007 13:50 GMT20
I needed my horn and it wasn't there. The airbag in wheel installation
allows only one lower-right quadrant dedicated for the horn and a very hard
press in the active area is needed to actuate the horn.  Press anywhere
else and you get nothing.
ford taurus gas gauge24 Dec 2007 05:04 GMT8
the gas gauge is flaky, up and down and the check engine light it on.
it points to the gas gauge circuit, I would like to replace the gas
gauge regulator before dropping the gas tank to replace the sender.
where is the regulated voltage fed from? is it user replaceable?

P1633 code - KAM keep alive memory voltage too low23 Dec 2007 23:06 GMT1
Hi alt.autos.ford,
I just purchased an 02 Explorer - the check engine light is on -
took it to my local mechanic (closest ford dealer is 50 miles) - his
equipment read a P1633 error code from the computer - his book said KAM (
96 Taurus, trunk won't stay open23 Dec 2007 14:47 GMT7
My daughter has a 1996 Ford Taurus and the trunk on her car won't stay
open. It's not too bad on level ground, but if back end of the car is
tilted at all it constantly drops and hits us in the head. Kind of hard to
unload groceries when you're fighting the trunk lid.
Speed Limiter23 Dec 2007 01:47 GMT3
I have a 92 Taurus GL. I know for a fact that it will go above 85.
Back in 92, they didn't have the capability to put a speed limiter in
the PCM/ECM/CPU.  To my knowledge the cpu is just a big relay and
sensor center.  The only way they could limit the speed back in that

93 crown vic washer fluid switch22 Dec 2007 05:41 GMT2
Got a 93 crown vic, with the wash fluid switch on the typical place --
end of the signal light indicator / wiper selector on the left side of
the steering column... anyway, the selector for the wipers works ok, but
the button for the wash fluid does not...
new ethanol studies22 Dec 2007 05:12 GMT23
I found this quite interesting if it is good research.
Gasoline
Research findings released last week strongly suggests that there is an
"optimal blend level" of ethanol and gasoline -- most likely E20 or E30
Remote only opens driver's door22 Dec 2007 00:32 GMT8
I see on my 08 fusion that the remote only opens the
driver's door lock. Every other car I've had the remote
opens all the doors. Not very convenient. Is there a way to
have it open all the doors like the button inside does?
Attn: Backward Maniac20 Dec 2007 20:49 GMT2
Dear Sir,
It has been brought to my attention that you believe that you are in
charge of the internet.
That is *in fact* incorrect.
2008 Escape: Remote UNLOCK double flash20 Dec 2007 18:52 GMT3
My old 2003 ford Escape would flash it's marker lights twice to indicate
that the remote key fob had activated the "Unlock". The lights would flash
once for "Lock".
The 2008 Escape does nothing for unlock (unless it's dark outside then all

Hidden Codes?20 Dec 2007 01:09 GMT22
More of a generic question, but it would help me decide if I want to
let Ford have at my Taurus, or just drive it to the damn scrap yard
and get this over with.
I have an OBD1 scanner (93 taurus) and in the past, it has given me a
