Am working on a 2000 Ford Windstar.
When accelerating from a stop, there is a hesitation
before RPM picks up.  What causes such a hesitation?

Flathead vs OHV design23 Jan 2008 08:39 GMT6
I got to thinking about flathead valve/port design the other day and
investigated on the net.
Flathead intake and exhaust ports are cast into the block. Intake is
relatively simple. Exhaust ports ran from above the cyl., around

Ghost in a Ranger Radio22 Jan 2008 07:11 GMT15
This is an odd one -
My Mother has a 9 year old Ranger that she uses around our farm. It is no
longer an everyday truck, and is driven only 20 or 30 miles a week. Recently
the radio stopped consistently turning off when the ignition is switched
1993 Ford Ranger engine revs w/o gas pedal22 Jan 2008 01:30 GMT2
I have a problem with my 1993 Ford Ranger. It stated about a week ago,
the engine would idle at a very high RPM (3000 or so), but it would
only do it sometimes. Also the engine would rev up to 3 or 4 thousand
RPM sometimes when i pushed in the clutch to change gears. Sometimes
Truck transmission question22 Jan 2008 00:07 GMT9
I have been looking at some mid to late 80's F150's and F250's. The ones
that had manual transmissions were all 4 speeds where first gear is a
"granny gear". Is this normal? I would think that most of the transmission
would be geared more like a car and not have the granny gear.
Fusion 4 vs 6 any comments21 Jan 2008 21:46 GMT7
I was wondering if the Fusion with 4 cylinder has enough power. The
mpg is better that the V6 but I fear that it maybe underpowered.   The
manual 5 speed may compensate for it.  I'm not looking for a race car
just something that holds it's own on the interstate.  Any Comments?

The heated rear window on our Galaxy MPV stopped working, so we got the
local glass company to check it out.  The guy put a voltmeter across the
contacts on the lead at the window, and there was no voltage across them.
We asked a mechanic to take a look, and he did but can't find ...

C6 "wide ratio" mod...worth it?20 Jan 2008 10:00 GMT5
Before me, I have a very toasty and well used C6 behind a code H 390.
I want to do a good build on the C6, and have been wondering what
peoples' experience has been at using an AOD (or equivalent) front
gear set in a C6 to give a 2.78 first vis à vis 2.46.  I understand
