| How much slack in 4.3 timing chain? | 25 Apr 2006 04:46 GMT | 3 |
I started working on my 1989 GMC Safari to repair a coolant leak from the water pump interface to the block. Saw that the original crankshaft oil seal was leaking a good bit so I removed the timing cover. On the tension side the chain is pretty tight, but on the

| Brake advice sought | 25 Apr 2006 03:59 GMT | 18 |
My daughter's 2000 Alero coupe began exhibiting brake pulsation at about 40,000 miles on the clock. Old dad suspected the front rotors were warped and replaced them and the pads, taking great care to ensure that the hub to rotor fit was clean and free of rust and bumpy ...

I have a 1.5 yr. old GMC Envoy with a rusty transmission dip stick. I can see flakes of rust deposit all along its length, and they are falling off as I pulled the stick out of the tube. I have never seen anything like this. Anyone has similar experience ?

| Steering column | 24 Apr 2006 14:45 GMT | 4 |
I'm starting to take the tilt steering column out of my '88 Cav Z-24 and replace it with one from an '89. Probably swap lock cylinders while I'm at it so old key fits new column. Does any one have a diagram / exploded view of a steering column for

| 100 K Warrantee ??? | 24 Apr 2006 09:22 GMT | 4 |
I wonder, with all of this talk of GM's much improved quality, why they don't provide an extended warrantee with every new vehicle they sell ? Maybe a 100 K mile bumper to bumper, or a 36/60 like Toyota's ? Where I'm from, that is called "Put up or shut up."

| Energy Absorber Cracked | 24 Apr 2006 04:25 GMT | 4 |
Pulled the front bumper fascia off the Park Avenue today. What a job, I started out just wanting to rotate the tires, but seeing I had the car in the air I thought I'd try to see why I have fascia droop in the front.

| Chevy pickup fuel pump | 24 Apr 2006 02:36 GMT | 2 |
Just bought a 1998 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup from a guy at work. It has the V6 engine. The electric fuel pump on this truck is very, very noisy - sort of a high pitched whine. Anyone familiar with this problem? Does the fuel pump need replaced or is this caused by something else? ...

| HEI Distributor 4.3 | 24 Apr 2006 02:34 GMT | 1 |
It seems I read from some very old post that it is possible to convert a 350 HEI non computer distributor to be used in a 4.3 v-6. This is not a vortec v-6. The reason I ask this is I have a 1991 boat with a 4.3 gm engine with a

| A/C Problem 99 Suburban wont cycle off | 23 Apr 2006 23:03 GMT | 1 |
I have a good deal of automotive knowledge, though not a professional tech, and living in Phoenix I have diagnosed and repaired a lot of A/C problems, but this one has me baffled. When I fired up my A/C for the first time this year, I discovered that my clutch was never cycling

| Vauxhall - Opel Profits and USA | 23 Apr 2006 21:55 GMT | 13 |
Why is it that Vauxhall - Opel in Europe can make profits but that GM US cannot. Why is it that Americans still drive around in V6 / V8 3-5 litre engined cars that don't produce anywhere near the power per litre that European cars

| problem with temperature gauge on 1993 chevy truck | 23 Apr 2006 20:58 GMT | 1 |
The temp gauge on my 1993 c1500 recently quit working. The check gauge test at start up indicates that the guage is working, but, while the engine is running, the gauge never moves above zero. Thermostat is less than 2 years old and the engine warms normally, but the gauge
