Impala vs. Accord?23 Jul 2006 01:28 GMT85
Hey all,
I am sort of car shopping and as the Hondas tend to be very spendy
(though very reliable) I see Consumer Reports has recommended the
Impala, which seems to be doing very well keeping up with the Japanese
a moron burned up his Caddy Seville's engine22 Jul 2006 23:20 GMT7
I was at the drive through oil change place, getting the oil changed in
my wife's '99 Olds 88, 3800 series II cream puff.  It was so hot, I got
out of the car to stand in the shop.
A nice looking, shiny, 2000 or so Caddy Seville (or STS?) pulls up to
2.2 L Service Engine Light Reset?22 Jul 2006 18:45 GMT1
Whenever I lug the engine in my 2003 S-10 the SES light will pop on. It's
easy to do with the 4 cylinder. Just forget and leave it in 2nd gear at a
stop sign.
Been to the dealer three times. always shows a misfire on #4 cylinder.
speedometer doesn't read the same as speedzone signs22 Jul 2006 15:53 GMT10
I have a 91 Astro van 4.3 litre engine as I travelled on vacation and
through the city I noticed my speedometer reading higher than the speed
signs. It doesn't matter what speed I travel my speedometer is 5 kph faster
than the speed zone signs read.
Safteying a gas tank21 Jul 2006 19:51 GMT5
I need to patch a gas tank. This means cutting an 8 inch hole in the bottom
of the tank and will probably solder in the patch. How can I purge the tank
so I can safely patch the hole.

It's easy to see why GM is in serious trouble.
First the Cobalt.

5.3 Liter Aluminum Block21 Jul 2006 12:15 GMT3
Looking for information on the 5.3 liter aluminum block that came in my 2006
Silverado. Is the cylinder surface of these motors a cast iron sleeve or is
it a Nikasil plated bore?
Thanks,

Replace battery on 2000 Lumina sedan21 Jul 2006 05:11 GMT4
Bought a 2000 Lumina with 20K for cheap at a US gov fleet auction, and
a few days later it wouldn't start (low battery). Jumped it, and
started up fine again after a ten mile drive, but this morning battery
is low again (reading only 9 volts).  I think it's the original battery
2005 Malibu Cruise Control20 Jul 2006 18:29 GMT1
Anyone out there have problems already with 2005 Malibu cruise control?
The cruise control stopped working and I've only had this car since
Dec 31, 2004.   On the left side of steering wheel there is on/off
button to press and if you press on a orange light lights up to let you

Chev Optra suspension20 Jul 2006 03:48 GMT4
After a few weeks of driving a 4 door hatchback Optra 5, I've become quite
disgruntled with poor road handling, particularly the rear of the car
'bobbing' around on  road bumps. It seems there's minimal shock re-boound to
counteract this behaviour, and as more miles are put on ...

I happened into a whole bunch of Cadillac manuals - seem to be mostly
80's & 90's models. I can make a list. Any interest, or should I just
recycle them? Bob in MN.
