Oil Pump23 Jan 2007 23:35 GMT4
I have a 91 Astro Van with 3300000 km on the engine and in the last couple
of days the oil pressure gauge dropped from 40psi to about 20psi. The engine
doesn't make any knocking or pinging noise. Could it be something wrong with
the oil pressure switch or could the oil pump be ...
Silverado 2500HD growling noise when coasting in 4wd23 Jan 2007 18:49 GMT2
2001 Silverado 2500HD 44k
Today when I dropped it into 4wd mode, it's making a strange
growling/scraping noise coming somewhere from the area around the 2wd/4wd
shifter in the floor.   It only happens when it's coasting. When

Headlight fixture ?23 Jan 2007 15:11 GMT2
The headlight unit on my 2002 BUICK
has a foggy deposit on the inside.
As far as I can tell the unit is sealed,
with only holes in back to poke in replacement bulbs.

Tip - Alternator Battery Problems22 Jan 2007 23:59 GMT7
I thought I would share this with others in the hope that they didn't
end up spending alot more money than needed to cure what seemed to be
an alternator problem.
I recently bought a 1993 Chev Lumina Sedan with the 3.1 Liter V6. I got
81 Caprice diesel convert to gas?22 Jan 2007 14:47 GMT7
My father-in-law has a 81 Caprice diesel, and being a diesel mechanic
on Cat and other heavy stuff, he has redbuilt the diesel after 100k,
but then after a while the wrist pins on the pistons wore out and he
has parked the car under a cover for a few years.
nyone else seen head problems GM 5-cylinder?22 Jan 2007 14:14 GMT9
Just curious: anyone else seen lots of head-cracking on the little GM
pickups with the 5-cylinder engine?  Around our 'lil town, both Chev and
GMC's are cracking them.  Valves seem to be ok, and they are replacing with
new heads and old valves--salvage yards, I understand can't ...

Why are all these people knocking GM ?????????21 Jan 2007 19:51 GMT100
It is so funny, all these people in here talking badly about GM.
I guess it just shows in here who is the real mechanics and who is not,
because if you are a real mechanic then you would love GM, Chevy and
Fords. The reason being is because if you are a real mechanic you would
Portable CD player advice21 Jan 2007 19:31 GMT2
I need a portable CD/mp3 player that could also be used in my car. I
would like something with as much playback capabilities as possible,
i.e. cd/mp3/wma and whatever, plus a remote. I'm not an audiophile but
it does not appear that portable CD players are much in demand so the
Why is it so "impossible" to upgrade analog OnStar?21 Jan 2007 18:28 GMT77
Analog OnStar is being shut down in 2008.  What I don't understand is why GM
says that the old analog equipment cannot be upgraded.  These days upgrades
are available for cars that are much more sophisticated than cell phone
equipment.  Is the analog receiver unit connected to ...
1999 Park Avenue Electrical Problem21 Jan 2007 15:40 GMT4
I have a 1999 Buick Park Avenue with 100,000 miles and recently
experienced an electrical problem.  Hoping someone here might see the
connection between these symptoms.  This all occurred at the same
time.
problem with 03 CTS21 Jan 2007 13:20 GMT3
I am having a problem with my inlaws 2003 Caddillac CTS.  The radio and
lights usually shut of when the door is opened if the keys are out of the
ignition.  This stopped this morning.  Could it be weather related?  We woke
up to about -15 Celsius, maybe about 15 Farenheight.
LS1 distributor21 Jan 2007 02:41 GMT6
If one wanted to run an LS1 in an older car with a carburetor and no
computer, how could you get spark? And, could one find an intake for a carb?
