'02 Sonoma fuel economy29 Jul 2008 04:20 GMT10
I just bought an '02 Sonoma pickup, 2WD with the 4.3 vortec and
automatic overdrive, about 85k miles.  Have a couple of questions:
On the first tankful of gas I got just over 21 MPG, and the driving
was mostly highway, using gasoline with 10% ethanol, brand new tires.  I

Several times now, the truck has just shut off while driving. Low
speed, high speed, I can't correlate it to hitting a bump or something

1991 S15 Jimmy dash question27 Jul 2008 23:39 GMT3
Sorry for an incredibly stupid question, but I need to replace the
blower switch in my 1991 S15 Jimmy.  The Chilton's manual I have makes
no mention of how to remove the trim piece that houses the AC controls
(that is, the vertical rectangle to the right of the instrument

Airbag Light25 Jul 2008 22:29 GMT1
Occasionally, my airbag malfunction light comes on.  If I restart the
car it generally goes out.  The manual states that if it resets the
way I mention above it's no big deal but I wonder.  Is it worth a trip
to the dealer?  07 Malibu SS
1996 GMC Jimmy Brake Problems25 Jul 2008 21:55 GMT1
I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy, and I believe I am having problems with the
brakes now. It seems that when I have to press them hard (to stop
suddenly) they grab, let-go, grab, let-go, and all while it is
grabbing the tires are screeching, but it's not stopping like it
air filter replacement - 3.8L 1997 Grand Prix25 Jul 2008 13:52 GMT1
Can anyone offer some hints?
I struggle each time I need to replace the air filter.  Opening the
cannister and removing the intake  doesn't come close to allowing
removal or replacement of the filter.  I must be missing a major

Cobalt 2007 cruise control24 Jul 2008 21:40 GMT2
When the cruse control is set the message "Cruise Engaged" appears but it
disappears after a few seconds. The owner's manual does not specify if this
should remain on for as long as the system is engaged or disappear after a few
seconds. Anyone know if this is the correct operation?
Subaru Outback is the one to buy24 Jul 2008 19:22 GMT7
GM doesn't make anything like the Outback. Station wagon form, good ground
clearance, AWD, great Consumer Union rating. Looks right in all respects.
GM of course could have beat the Outback at their own game had they
listened to their disgruntled customers on this Newsgroup. In fact ...

Considering a VW even though I'm a Chevy Man24 Jul 2008 02:10 GMT49
While it appears GM and the big 3 in general aren't going to offer truly
fuel efficient hybrids (other than the Ford Escape, but even that isn't
stellar) I've been checking into and seriously considering a VW Jetta TDI
(diesel) which can easily produce 45plus MPG with NO worries ...

Chevrolet spiral wound brake lines23 Jul 2008 16:19 GMT5
Does anybody know what the purpose of the spiral wire wound brake lines is
on GM cars and trucks? The only reference I can find calls it "coiled armor
shielding". Maybe so the steel line doesn't get a hole worn into it by
chafing on something?
