Have a 1991 Honda Accord ... 5,600 mi., out of warranty, and really absolutely perfect otherwise. What could cause Check engine light to come on when there are no obvious mechanical problems?

I am at wit's end. My 90 civic hatchback 1.5l F/I, no a/c has a cooling fan that won't run. Replaced the thermo switch - even though now I don't think it was bad, the fan motor is good and i did find a blown fuse. The fuse was replaced, has not blown again, but still no fan. ...

I was stuck in rush hour traffic a few days ago, so I started looking around. I was looking around, and saw a familiar tire - a Yokohama AVS ES100 on the rear of a Civic. I had that particular tire on my Integra before it was stolen.

I heard a faint whine while from the front of the car during a test drive. There was also some hesitation with downshifting. I am concerned about the transmission in this vehicle. Should I pass on this car and look at something else?
