96 Civic diagnosed with bad rod--then changed to bad clutch??16 Oct 2006 23:56 GMT7
I have a 96 Civic manual with 126k on it. For nearly a year the
engine(or what I thought was the engine) would make a clunky noise when
driving mainly uphill at a lower rpm. I always go to the dealer for
service as I am always a bit unsure how to find a trustworthy mechanic.

Hi, my 1.6L 4-cylinder Civic often makes a "clicking" noise, especially
when under load in too high a gear. Sometimes even at the "correct"
gear, when accelerating.
Is this pinging, pinking, tappet noise, detonation, spark knock, etc?
Detergent Oil16 Oct 2006 12:25 GMT16
Just got an 03 Odyssey.  The manual says to use a detergent oil.  What
exactly is a detergent oil.  What brands of oil are a detergent oil?  Does
someone make a synthetic or synthetic blend of detergent oil?  Maybe I
should stick with Honda oil?  Any thoughts on this would be ...

98 Accord Ignition switch failed AGAIN!!!16 Oct 2006 10:58 GMT5
1st I fixed it.  Then 2 months later Honda issued their recall and I
had to go to the dealer and have them do the work to get reimbursed for
my part purchase.  Now the damn thing is flaking out again/ cutting off
randomly.  Think I have any remote chance if I fuss enough to get this

1990 Honda Accord: trunk still leaks16 Oct 2006 03:06 GMT5
I have a 1990 Honda Accord DX. Few months ago, I found that its
trunk leaked. I caulked the tailgate light gasket. That fixed the
leaking problem of the driver's side but the passenger side still
leaked. I caulked it again, and eventually five times, to no

Diagnostic code interpritations15 Oct 2006 16:27 GMT7
Recently, on my 99 Civic EX I've replaced the exhaust from the
catylitic converter onward and also replaced all of the exhaust gaskets
and nuts/bolts, etc.  During this unlikely hellish event I had to
resort to a hacksaw and a hammer to free several bolts, the worst of

While rotating by tires this past weekend I ogled the front brake pads and
they looked like they could be worn some.  The car has 95,000 mostly highway
miles on it and don't believe it's ever had the brake ...
