I turn the key and all the usual lights come on, but the engine does not

When I start up my 1993 Honda civiv ex I notice a mtal grinding sound
coming from I think the engine. When I am driving the car I am also
noticing the sound ...could be the belts or is there something wrong
w/the engine???

Very odd.  the engine started to miss (sounds like one cylinder is not
firing) for about 1 minute.  It went away for 5 minutes, then came
back,  I replaced the plugs (they didn't look too good anyway), but it
didn't help.
